  1. 50% of me is really really scared that this is a real question and 50% of me is like "Ha Ha - good joke!!" Which part of me is right btw?
  2. that is a lot of info you need why dont you ask the previous owner?
  3. why are you buying a horse if you are afraid of them?! that makes no sense what-so-ever!
  4. if you are afraid of horses and don't know anything about them you don't need to be getting one do you even like horses? maybe you should just get a dog
  5. april 1st was last week. i hope to god you are taking the ****.
  6. If you dont know the answer to your own questions... do not own a horse
  7. I wouldn't recommend getting an ex-racehorse if your sort of scared of them, unless she has been off the track for a long while and is gentle. I know you probably don't want to hear this but its for your safety. i would look for a different horses or a horse that's not an ex-racer because they can be high stung and that doesn't mix well with a rider that isnt fully confident.
  8. If you are asking how to take care of a horse on YA!, then you are not ready to own one, let alone a TB off the track! If you really want to learn, you need to pick up a few (ok, a LOT) of books and start reading.
  9. My brother had a "off the track" TB mare, she was the sweetest thing but no matter what we did with her, anytime we would ride in a group..she felt like she had to be up -front of the group. Just take your time and get to know your horse. Read up ALL that you can on horses..such as books, on the internet, forums, etc. Horses are unpredictable creatures (lol, i know some will disagree), so if and when you move her to your property or any new setting, let her get adjusted before attempting to ride, etc. Patience is the "clue" word with horses. The rewards will be great when you grow a bond with her. Good luck! (PS: Please ignore the silly remarks..it is YOUR decision and only you know if you are ready for & truly wanting a horse)
  10. Ummm....... I dont think you should buy a horse. 1. You are afraid of them! 2. Ex racers are usually not exactly the "calmest" equines ESPECIALLY if you are afraid of them 3. You should know how to take care of them if you are buying one.
  11. PLEASE work with a reputable trainer who can help you with your new horse. At the very least, please make sure that you stay consistent in having your horse's feet trimmed. This needs to happen once every 6 weeks by a good knowledgable farrier. If you don't keep up with this, all sorts of problems will happen, and if it gets really bad your horse will not be able to walk. Also, please do some research on what to feed your horse. Not all hay is good hay. If it is dusty and moldy, it can cause your horse to colic. Please have someone knowledgable show you how to tack up your horse. I have seen people put things on backwards and upside down and too loose and too tight and it does not work out very well. Also, I don't know why so many new horse owners think this is a good idea, but do not tie your horse on the end of a long rope to let it walk around and eat grass. I was told once by a vet that that is one of the most common causes of injuries he treats-- someone thinking they can tie their horse to a tree with a long rope and the horse gets tangled up and panics.
  12. Whoa, whoa! You are afraid of horses, you don't know basic care, haven't been on a horse EVER in your life, want to TEACH it tricks, AND you are getting an ex-racer?! Do NOT buy a horse! I'm serious, get some lessons for a few years. You can't go out and just buy a horse, and then expect to learn EVERYTHING about them in a short paragraph over the internet. Lessons will teach you everything from how to ride to horse care. If you are afraid of horses, you shouldn't get one because horses can sense fear; fear and horses are a bad combination. I don't know how long this horse is off the track either, so this is even worst. Sorry to be so rude and such, but green+green=black and blue.
  13. This sounds harsh but its true: ok if you dont know how to ride you shouldnt reallly own a horse yett If you are affraid of horses why are yougetting one? ex racehorses have to be re backed and re schooled and that is gunna cost a lot of money!! what do u mean by tricks cos horses arnt circus animals u no and by the sounds of it she si a mare so overall i personally thin its a disaster waiting to happen btw i dont suppose she is chesnut is she? zoey
