What types of dogs make good hearing dogs?

I just wanted to know because I am writing a research paper on them.

1. Labradors are traditonally disability dogs but they are no more intelligent or trainable than other breeds so in theory I suppose any dog could could be a hearing dog.
2. any dog as long as it seems to learn thing well breed has nothing to do with it
