Does anybody know the names of the books that were an aliens guide to dogs, cats and babies?

They are children's books which describe dogs, cats and babies to aliens. The only part I remember is they call a dogs tongue a 'pink flannel' and that dogs can 'jump as high as a roast beef'. Does anybody know the names. Much appreciated =]
