What competitions can mixed breeds participate in?
I have a lab/shepherd/husky mix. She is crazy smart, a ball of energy, and has great stamina. Then again, she is only 3 months old but I think she'll keep this going for a bit. Can she compete in obedience or agility contests when shes older despite being mixed or what?

- I think I heard that the AKC is now letting mixed breeds compete in their own competitions.
- she can do agility and obedience, she just has to be registered purebred for like dog show
- Well your dog is currently far too young to compete in any competition right now. In most competitions, such as agility or flyball, the dogs have to be a year old or so. This is because their bones are not quite finished growing and to break a growth plate could seriously leave your dog lame. Your pup could also do any 4-H competition but again she needs to be atleast a year old. Hope this helps.
- im pretty sure you can do agility :) i have a mixed puppy to :) he is a lab border collie mix :)
- I believe by the end of the year mixed breeds will be able to compete in AKC via the mixed breed program. Now don't get all gaga over it, they will not be competing with pure breds nor will they be competing in all breed shows. It will only be independent agility and obedience and any other performance clubs. Now you will not be able to compete with a 3 month old, this will be the same as a real competition so training is a must. All dogs competing in this program MUST be altered so once the dog is old enough if not done already she will have to be spayed if you want to compete. There is still AMBOR that you can compete in if you register of course.
