How much land do 6 miniature horses need?
Public Comments
- the rule of thumb for normal-sized horses is usually one acre per horse. i don't know for sure if thats the same for minis. they're a lot smaller, so probably a bit less than that.
- The rule is one acre per horse. So I'd say if you gave them 4 acres with a shelter they would be good. Hope I helped! =D
- mini's need about 3/4 of a acre per animal.
- Are they on lush pasture or are they on a drylot and are you feeding them hay? Any horse could survive on less if they are managed properly. If they are on lush pasture, you might want to put up some fencing so they can't get to the grass all the time. You don't want them to founder. Our mini would eat almost all the time if we would let him. He does fine on one flake of grass hay in the morning and one at night. He doesn't get green grass very often. We will probably let him out in our yard this summer for short periods of time.
- I would put them in a huge 5 acres pasture or I would separate them three and three(mares and geldings) 2.5 acres each paddock.
