Do racing yards sell their race horses that are injured or retired from racing?

I would really like to give a home to a retired reacehorse, but all the race horse rehoming charities expect loads of money in donations every month.

1. dont they put them down? hope not though :)
2. Read Horse and Hound - often they are given away free to good homes.
3. they get put down to put them out there misery what the f*ck is the 3 thumbs down for :S its a fact ya bunch eh wankstains!
4. Usually they sell them or give them away but on occasion an owner/breeder may retire them and keep them on a ranch for breeding.
5. I would expect they would, you should contact a few and inquire about it, they may know of an owner or trainer that is looking to get rid of a horse. I have received a few standardbreds that were too old to race for free and turned them into excellent trail riding horses.
