What kind of noise makers can I put in toys for small dogs?
I am making plush dog toys for very small dogs. The toys are 3 to 4 inches in size and even the smallest plastic squeaker that I can find cannot fit. The only thing that I can think of is small metal bells, but even if I sew it into small cloth baggies, this isn't safe! Any ideas? Does anyone know what is used to make noise in tiny dog toys?

- Some dogs don't care about toys, and no amount of jumping up and down with a new squeaky toy is going to generate much interest. But most dogs love them--toys can provide comfort, exercise, mental stimulation, and camaraderie. And for dogs who spend a lot of time alone, a good stash of toys can stave off boredom and the ensuing destruction of hearth and home. http://dogtime.com/toys.html
- Have you looked at the squeakers used in the x-small Dr. Noys Pet Toys (by Kong Co.)? These are very small. I'm including a link to one of the toys. http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/201111/product.web?gdftrk=xh23lc0p/7HDy~g3JgKLc~yi0ex5/TZPCdT~2Qg/Sh23hesQDbbR~Zz6r3rafpQrKG4mYO~L3GVAGy/LnmvLKJ3TY2TNZMl0~bH/uwKOgw5wOJ0PHmw380Uxr~ChGvH6Pt7dL9IIanhtY9W9VyqmdA__ You can buy packages of the squeakers. These are specifically for toy dogs. The toy in the link is 3.25" x 4" so the squeak is very small. I have a few dog toys that have small baby rattles in them. These are little discs about the size of a U.S. quarter and about 1/2" thick. They have small metal B.B.s or pellets in them. I also have some toys that crinkle. These have a very heavy, stiff cellophane material in them. (I only know this because my new dog destroyed one and I unstuffed it to see what was inside.) I agree that a metal bell might not be the best. Good luck with your toys.
