Cross Breeds

Are there any mixed breeds of dogs with one small breed dog and one large breed dog?

If that makes sense! Let's say a Yorkie and a Lab or something. I was just wondering if that ever happens? I am in no way thinking about or promoting breeding dogs or anything! I have 2 shelter dogs who are spayed/neutered! Thanks!

  1. The answer is yes... I have a Rott/Dane/Shar-pei mix... all I can say is I hope the Daddy was the Shar-pei...
  2. ive seen little doggies humping bigger ones=) its so cute cause their going at it but nothings happening because he was too small to reach and the girl was just standing there like "huh"
  3. a chihuahua has gotten a pit bull pregnant and i've seen a female beagle get pregnant by a large hound dog/pointer mix.
  4. That happens ALL the time. They are all around the world. Mutts are a daily occurance. Often times what happens is the mama is a larger dog and lays down so a small male can do her. I know one dog who is part Pit Bull, part Dachshund. He's got the body of an overgrown Dachshund, with the muscles of a Pittie in that small body, and shrunken head of a Pittie. He's a brownish red, like so many Dachshunds are. Ok, he's butt ugly. But he's so ugly he's cute. I know another dog that's part German Shepherd, part Chihuahua. She's got the markings of a GSD, is more like the size of an adult runt GSD, with the shape of a Chi's face and legs. She really looks pretty good. As for such odd mixes having severe health problems, they are no worse than any other dog.
  5. I've wondered that before, too. If someone bred, let's say a chihuahua and a great dane, it's unlikely that the litter or the mother would even survive if the mom was the chihuahua. However, if the great dane was the mother, the chihuahua wouldn't be able to reach when he mounted her, so he would need help or artificial insemination. So it's probably pretty rare at least in the extreme like I mentioned.
  6. The old "What happens if your breed a Chihuahua with a Great Dane?" question? I imagine it does. Accidents happens. I just hope when they do, it's the Chihuahua that's the father for obvious reasons. And what is the result? A ridiculous looking dog with severe health problems, that's what. Wrong in every way.
  7. I've met a German Shepherd/Pug mix once ... funniest-looking creature ever. LOL
  8. Any dog breed can mate with any other dog breed. They are the same species after all. Sometimes it is deadly for both mom and puppies though if the female is smaller than the male and the puppies are too big for her to deliver. A small breed male and a larger female are more viable as long as the little male can mount the bigger female.
