Wasn't It A Great Race By Well Armed?

I was thoroughly impressed by Well Armed's pillar to post win. And to think he was nearly put down 2 years ago Final race at Nad Al Sheba, the first winner was another great American horse, Cigar, and only fitting that another American horse closed the chapter in convincing style. How often do you get a 14 length victory in a major International Grp 1 race? Enjoy this great theme by Vangelis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4PH-EV6OmE&feature=PlayList&p=488AB8844F54AB14&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=1 I am not American, as such don't really follow much horse-racing in the US, except the big ones: The Triple Crown Races, The Breeders Meet and the occasional Grp 1 race I am also not a 100% true racing fan, but I follow lots of sports including racing. I tend to follow the major races throughout the globe. Quite soon in April / May, we will have The AP Queen Elizabeth II Cup in Hong Kong, The 1000 & 2000 Guineas in England, Kentucky Derby, etc. But before all that, is this super steeplechase event on 4th April 2009 in Liverpool, England, The Grand National . 40 horses enter, but less than a quarter finish. It may be deemed cruel to some, as the fences are notoriously difficult, and many horses have suffered injuries in this race. But its' excitement is mesmerizing. Try to catch it on TV if you can, or go to You Tube, to watch past races. .

  1. His fourteen length victory topped Curlin's winning length win last year. I was very impressed with his race, and he did it with style and class. It isn't often that we see a horse winning in this kind of style. Today he showed he is a true race horse.
  2. Yeah, he was fantastic. The final time wasn't that fast, but Well Armed had no reason to run any faster than he did... he was really only at half effort when he crossed the wire. I kind of wonder what happened to the rest of the horses in the field... the race wasn't fast and no one was near Well Armed at the end... the other horses ran slower than 2:03. I'm really thinking that Well Armed doesn't like the Santa Anita surface. He was great last summer and fall at Hollywood and Del Mar but didn't do much in the Breeders or his first 2 starts this year which were all at Santa Anita. Perhaps Well Armed should ship to the East Coast during the Santa Anita meets from now on... unfortunately the Breeders is in California again.
  3. yeah, well armed ran a great race today
  4. he smoked their asses. I am glad for Aaron Gryder as he needed this win to fire back up his career. He could of started in the parking lot and still won. Superfecta paid $400,000. WOW
