What dog shows and races can I go to?

I was wondering what dog shows and races [sled pulling/long distance, etc] are available for attending in upstate NY? I'm saving up all my money to go to the Iditarod when I get the chance; but since that's all the way up in Alaska, I know I can't go every year like I'd love to. So I was wondering what dog shows and/or Mushing Races are around the North-East. Any and all ideas are fantastic. Links are appreciated as well. Cheers.

2. Westminster Kennel Club dog show will be at Madison Square Gardens starts Feb 9th? I love to go and see every AKC registered dog represented.
3. I don't know dog shows but I do know sled races. Go to sleddogcentral.com and click on race schedules. Also look at the links on the left side of the home page and click clubs and check clubs in your area. Also check the Pennsylvania Sled Dog Club. They have more events in New York than in their own state.
4. There should be a local chapter of your breed group in or close to your area that will be in "the know" when it comes to breed events like sledding...there may also be a local sled dog group for mushers and aspiring mushers.
