the idatarod dog sled race route plz?

how many miles is the idatarod race?? and where does it start and where does it end in?? i already looked in wikipedia, but it's kinda confusing for me :)

1. You can see the official route map here http://www.iditarod.com/race/route.html It starts in Anchorage and ends in Nome
2. The official trail distance is listed as 1049 because Alaska was the 49th state, and the approximate distance is 1000. It is run from Anchorage Alaska and goes to Nome Alaska, retracing the route used in a historic transport of diphtheria medicine to Nome by dog team that saved many in the village from an epidemic. The race now uses 2 slightly different route on alternate years. The addition of the southern route (1977) was done because the very small rural villages hosting the event were becoming overrun and overtaxed, by alternating years they are able to even that out amongst villages in the region.
