Looking for puppies for sale?
In the market for a black lab puppy. I've checked the local classifieds but surprisingly there weren't any labs! Any websites on how to find local puppies would be much appreciated!

- YOU DONT NEED A WEBSITE YOU NEED TO GO TO THE SHELTER
- yeaa ! petfinder.com is a really good site you can customize the size, breed, and age of the dog you want :]
- i no everyone says go and adopt one from a local dog shelter, but if you Personal preference is you want to buy one then don't buy one out of your local paper or anything like that as most of them are not knowledgeable breeders, get in touch with you local kennel club and they will recommend a breeder for you, which will have done all the necessary screening and health checks. good luck i hope you find what you are looking for.
- There are hundreds of thousands of black Lab mixes available in shelters all over the US. There are hundreds of reputable Lab breeders to be found by contacting the Lab AKC breed club.
- Go to your local animal shelter and put your name on the waiting list for a black lab puppy. You would be surprised how many purebred animals come through shelters all the time. Not only will you not pay $500 dollars for a dog, but you will also be saving a dog who might otherwise never find a loving home. Shelter dogs almost always also come with a spay / neuter, health examination, first round of vaccinations and a microchip included in the cost of the adoption, which is usually between $100 and $200 for a puppy. Also consider looking online for a Labrador rescue close to you, which will specialize in rescued labs and lab mixes.
- I hate it when people say go to a shelter for a PB dog. I sell my beagle puppies on www.kijiji.com and www.buysell.com lots of people do.
- Go to your local amimal shelter and even if you don't find a lab i am sure that you will find a dog or even a cat that would make you happy and you just might be saving the dog or cats life. The shelters are so crowded that sometime they have to put some of the dogs and /or cats to sleep to make room! That is a sad fact but its true!
- either adopt one from a shelter (go to petfinder.com) or use the American Kennel Club site to find and AKC breeder http://www.akc.org/breeds/labrador_retriever/, remember this is a very popular breed, so the puppies are likely to go fast.
- i would go to the shelter to adopt a pet. they are in need of a good home.
- kijiji,com & backpage.com Good luck
- don't go to the shelter get a pit bull not a lab >>>>from me
- If you are certain that a lab is a good match for your lifestyle, you definitely have several choices to make. First of all by making sure that you are ready for the responsibility of raising a puppy. But there are several places to find one. Classifieds: as you mentioned there are almost always ads for this popular breed. However I highly highly disagree with ever getting a dog from a newspaper ad. Most are from backyard breeders, who do no health testing whatsoever. I've seen labs with bad joints, bad temperaments, and I've even seen one with a paralyzed face. These people only breed because they happen to have 2 dogs of the same breed and are very irresponsible and frankly don't care about what diseases or disfigurements their dogs are passing on. Breeders: True breeders are ones that health test their dogs, and title them. These dogs are bred to work and only the exceptional animals are chosen to breed. I would shy away from anyone who breeds more than once a year, and even that's a lot. You can search on the internet and message boards for recommended breeders. But be prepared for the price tag that goes along with these! You also might be interested in adopting from an agency that trains seeing eye dogs and service dogs. Not all dogs make the cut and the rest need homes. I know a fine black lab who only failed seeing eye training because he countersurfs! Shelters: Above and beyond the most rewarding thing you could ever do. Big black dogs are often the last to be adopted as most people think they are too "plain." Anytime you adopt from a shelter, you are saving that dogs life and possible another that will take it's place in the shelter! You also often get more for your money, you are already getting an animal that is up to date on it's shots and already spayed or neutered, which saves you money on vet bills. If you get a puppy, often you will sign a contract stating you will have the puppy fixed, and you will get some of your adoption fee back. I definitely recommend getting one from the shelter. As I'm assuming you want one just to be a pet, not a working dog, it's a great place to find a wonderful companion.
