Cross Breeds

Question about Pit Bull puppies...?

I have a litter of purebred, non registered, pit bull puppies.. This is my first breeding and I was wondering if I had their dewclaws removed, firsts shots given and wormed would $150 for each be asking too much? And please DO NOT respond with saying that I shouldn't sell them because there are millions of dogs in shelters that need homes..

  1. Why get the dewclaws removed? I'd likely ask for less if I was in your situation. Pitties have a tough enough time as it is, due to BSL. An unregistered litter will likely get less attention. $100 should be about right. Or charge $150 and reimburse $50 with proof of spay/neuter with the pups.
  2. you shouldn't sell them because there are millions of dogs in shelters that need homes.. KIDDING! actually you are selling them very cheap! I would go a little higher :)
  3. I'm not from the US but from what I gather, pit bulls cannot be registered with the AKC. Maybe because they're so over-bred. To be honest, you should tot up the costs of their vaccinations, worming and flea treatment, etc, and sell them for that and not a penny more. They're worth no more than shelter dogs.
  4. I GOT A DOG FOR THAT MUCH WITHOUT ANYTHING.I GOT A BAD DEAL.WHAT A RIP OFF. I THINK THAT IS OKAY.CUZ U R GIVING FIRST SHOTS AND MORE.SO THAT SEEMS A REASONABLE PRICE HOPE THIS HELPS ~CINDY~
  5. 150 is about right. if they are over 3 days old, then it is not a good idea to have their dewclaws removed. everything else sounds fine
  6. That's reasonable. I paid $200 for a registered ADBA pitbull and she's lovely, and was worth every penny for her awesome temperament.
  7. Leave the dewclaws! I have 3 dogs (one a pitbull) and all of them have their dewclaws! Also....150$ is CHEAP!! I am not from the US, I live in Canada and here people will pay up to 700-100$ for a purebred unregistered pitbull puppy! I got lucky and only paid $300 for mine who was already 10 months old!
  8. I don't know where you live, but in Central Florida, my neighbor had a litter of good pits at Christmas time. He tried to sell them for $150. He sold one and ended up giving the rest of them away. It sounds like a fair price, but who has money to buy an unregistered dog these days? Why remove dew claws?
  9. One thing I am going to say is that you shouldnt declaw them. Give the dogs to close family and friends that are sure to take care of them properly.
  10. Your are gonna have a hard time finding them homes if you gave them away for free. But $150 is not bad if you are gonna have their first shots, wormed and health certificate. Please monitor the homes the puppies are going too. You get some nasty people interested in Pit Bull puppies. Please do not breed unproven Pits. You already know shelters are overwhelmed with them. I bred one litter with a papered and titled sire and dam all the good stuff. It was a pain in the arse trying to get them into good homes. I had people getting nasty with me cause I turned them down etc. It was just more people wanting the pups to breed even MORE Pit Bulls. I had a strict contract and they did not like it. All my Pits are now spayed and neutered. Even if we continued to travel and show, I would not breed again. Not worth it. To many out there as it is. So please becareful.
