Why do we spay cats/dogs? They are mammals like us that want children, but most humans aren't "fixed"?

I don't understand that. AND also, I know that cats and dogs are overpopulated, but so are humans. I don't think men would like waking up to see that something is missing, and I don't think women would like to be fixed Juston, you're so dumb. You don't even understand my question. It's like you don't even care about animals. You must be the blonde one.

1. I think MORE people should be spayed and neutered!! Women who use abortion mutiple times should be spayed! Sex offenders...neutered!! By the way.......dogs don't think the way humans do, actually removing their reproductive organs, make life less stressfull for them.
2. many men and women do get "fixed" and we can also make the choice weather we want kids or not..... its better than having more cats and dogs that are just going to die, they don't "want babies" they are just capable of having them and do....plus its got health benefits for our pets
3. It's not just about keeping the pet population in check. It's also about the fact that it is healthier for pets to be spayed/neutered. Pets who aren't fixed can get cancer in their reproductive organs. I don't know about you but I would find that pretty devastating. Also, it keeps them from seeking mates at any cost, thus keeping them safer. There are some humans that should be spayed/neutered IMO.

5. Well, take a trip down to the local animal shelter and visit some of the pets there on "death row". It really is a sad situation, there are so many dogs and cats that are homeless and more are being born EVERYDAY. More than half are euthanized, but people keep breeding them, strictly for money. It's so sad to see people exploit animals for the sake of a dollar. Mammals don't "want" children in the sense that a human does. If that is the case, and you are attributing a human emotion such as "wanting" to an animal then how can you limit the animal to possess just the "want", what about the "desire to be loved, the need for emotional connectivity", I could go on and on. Simply put, mammals, with the exception of humans breed for the sole purpose of reproduction. Be smart, spay and neuter your pets. If you don't believe in it, GO TO THE ANIMAL SHELTER AND WATCH TEHM PUT THE NEXT PET DOWN...

Yeah but we can use protection if we dont want children, we also have sex out of pleasure, but animals do it out of insinct to reproduce, no one wants to see dogs living on the street cuz you cant afford to look after them. at least with children you can adopt them out, people dont always want pets, especially if you cant find a place to rent
8. It is the only way to guantee that you will not be adding to pet overpopulation problem. For female dogs it is also better for their health: they will not have pregnancy complications, they will not die in whelping, they will not get pyometra, and you will greatly decrease their chances of getting breast cancer, especially if they are spayed before their fist heat. Breast cancer is a really fast, aggressive, ugly cancer in dogs. Male dogs will be better behaved, less aggressive, will not get testicular cancer. They are sentient but they are not human. They will not "miss it". That is anthropomorphism.
9. Dogs and cats can't make decisions on their medical care it's up to people to decide for them and do what they believe is in the best interest of the animal. Animals are not the same as people they are more like children if anything! They are instinctual and to compare humans and animals getting spayed and neutered is pretty much like comparing apples to oranges. They're completely different! some people DO get spayed and neutered- men get vasectomies all the time and women get hysterectomies! plus, people have other ways to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

Actually, many women DO get "spayed" whether do to health problems, or by choice, because it stops you having a period 9VERY tempting, lol) We use other means of avoiding having children, like condoms and the pill. We breed animals with out asking for their opinion, so it makes sense that we also choose to spay and neuter. The main thing, as EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE SAYING IN ALL CAPS. (sorry, lol) is that yes, there are too many cats and dogs. There are also too many humans. It's because, unlike with animals, we ARE aware of what we're missing. And the countries with the overpopulation problem, like poor, african countries, the people there are so used to not having most of their children living, that they have a lot. Its a HUGE problem because these parents won't let their children get immunized against horrid diseases because they think its the "white man' trying to make their kids sterile.
11. I know you mean well. But, there are more stray animals than there are home-less people in America. We are helping animals by spaying them. Just think, humans have a stronger desire to have children than animals do.
12. There are many reasons to fix cats and dogs. But I think one thing most people don't know is that it is painful for the female cat when the male is breeding her. The male has barb-like things on his man part so when he enters a female they scrape her insides to help his little swimmers. But like I said there are many reasons too many to name here but if you go to your local vet Im sure they will be happy to inform you.
13. Humans make choices. Animals don't understand consequences, and can't make decisions. In fact, the animals don't "want" children, nature is just telling them to reproduce. Most animals stop having any familial/parental connection to their young after a certain age, and will even turn on them as soon as they are considered a "threat". Have you ever had an unspayed cat in your home? She's really miserable when she's got urges and can't relieve them. It is much kinder to relieve her of that. Then there is the overpopulation issue. You ever notice how there's this huge campaign about birth control? We've got condoms and the pill and teaching abstinence in schools, etc. Fixing your pets is similar- but permanent. Just because humans also overpopulate, doesn't mean that we should. And it certainly doesn't mean that we should allow our pets to do the same. When you take a pet into your home, you are taking responsibility for that pet. If it breeds, you are responsible for its offspring. So, if you do not get your pet fixed, it is as close to having an unwanted child of your own as killing an animal is to killing a human. I understand where you're coming from, here, but you really didn't think it through enough.
