What types of dogs would not attack a parrot?

well basically i want a dog and i am now doing my research :D. So i have a parrot and i was wondering what kind of dog would be friendly to a parrot...any suggestions? Thank you in advance

2. A dog already used to parrots - any other dog would likely have prey drive towards it. Go down to your local shelters and see if they have a dog used to living with pets, or do a breed rescue search and see if anyone has one. This is not a matter of dog breed, it is a matter of finding an individual dog who will not consider a parrot as prey. Kevusabo --- I have 5 "hot dogs" (dachshunds) and every single one of them would consider a parrot fair game - tastes just like chicken. 4 feel the same way about cats, the 5th was raised with a kitten and has no prey drive towards cats at all - depends on how the dog was raised.
3. I would not suggest a sight hound. Go to the animal shelter and find one that would be good with cats that way you know that it doesn't have the personality to chase things smaller than itsself.
4. No, as all dogs are individuals and even within each breed will have different personalities.
5. All dogs are carnivores and there is no "parrot friendly" breed. Just about any breed can be trained to respect the parrot, but I'd never trust a dog with a bird alone.

11. You can never be sure that a dog won't go after a parrot. Never leave them unattended.
12. i would either try to find a dog already use to birds, or get a laid back dog. i think any dog would be fine as far as breeds. its the temperment you wanna watch out for..and honestly, i would be more worried about my parrot attacking my dog! lol
13. Any dog with the patience to train the prey drive out of it, which is hard work, as they are predators.
14. Labrador crossed with a Collie=they are very friendly and do not try and eat the parrot.
