looking up my horses background?
i have a retired race horse..i dont know much about him only hear say things. i was told he use to race with sulkys, and then someone else told me he was under saddle. he is not that old, i think hes between 8 and 10, and its been a while since some one has rode him or even worked on his ground manners. i was also told he is from n.y. (now in maine) i would like to find out what he use to race, if he has races under his belt, and anything else that would give me more knowledge on my horse. his number is c040 (zeros? or o's?)

- If he has a tattoo on his upper lip you can look it up the jockey club. They will have all of his racing information and genealogy. It was about $30 for me to get my horses' history. I was able to see where he had been moved from and what races he had won. I was actually able to contact one of the locations he raced at to get the information on the photographers that took the pics of him winning his race. I was able to order a copy and now i have such a cool pic of him. Good luck!
- Is he a Standardbred? those are the horses that usually race the sulkys. Most likely he'd have a freeze brand on his neck. Using that number you can look on the the USTA website about what the numbers mean so that you can track down details about that horse's registration. (occasionally STB tatoo on the lip, but rarely). If he's a thoroughbred, lip tatoo, call the Jockey club to see if they can get you any details.
