Do all essays need to have quotations?

I'm writing an essay on greyhound dog racing, and I'm wondering if all essays require quotes from books or people?

1. Unless you are an expert on greyhound dog racing, then yes, you will need to cite/quote your sources (books, articles, websites, people, etc.) that you use. If this is for a class, your teacher should tell you what style of citation/quotation they want.
2. Well reports are summaries but I would say its your choice.
3. Not only quotes but references. Person, article, book or magazine published date, etc...
