  1. Many people with allergies to cats are not allergic to all cats. I raised Abyssinians and loved it. However, if I pet a Persian, I need to wash my hands before I touch my face or I'll be sneezing and coughing with runny eyes, etc. I'm fine with short-haired cat in general, and have no problems with long haired cats other than Persians. So, the issue is to get your dad to experiment with his allergies. I had a few people come to my house with cat allergies and one couple got a kitten from me and one of the other couples that I sent to my friend who bred Cornish Rexes, got a Rex kitten. Unfortunately, there is not way to know without spending some time with the cat or kitten you want to get. Good luck. purrs
  2. No cat (or dog) is no allergy but like poodles their are several breeds that are considered less likely to produce an allergic reaction either because the produce less dander or produce less of the allergy causing protein. This includes Siberians, Korats and the rex breeds. As with any allergy suffer your Dad would need the spend time with the cats to see if they produce an allergic reaction. Any responsible breeder or breed rescue would insist on this.
  3. Yes. the Cornish Rex is known as the "poodle" cat as their fur is wavy/curly like a poodle's. Devon Rexes might work too. It depends on how allergic you are. I've had people want to adopt one of my rexes, but they were too allergic and it didn't work out. Most people with mild allergies can tolerate the Rex breed of cat.
