No they should not. There are hundreds of thousands of pitbulls that never hurt anyone. SHould all people die because some fool shot a convenience store clerk? No.
well i don't think they should all be put down i personal have one that lives in side with my kids and 4 other dogs and a cat and she gets along with everyone and everything

Nope. Why kill the animal because it belonged to an IDIOT. No what should be done is people need to be more educated on how to handle a dominate breed as well as the importance of keeping your animals under control. All dogs can be aggressive, sadly the APBT seems to end up in the wrong hands more often then other breeds. It's sad really i've been around many well behaved APBT but you will never see them on the news as well behaved APBT's don't make the media money.
no they should not. the only ones that should be euthanized is because medically or they are to aggressive. but the only bad pit bulls are the one that are trained and raised wrong. IF you treat them right and train them right. they are the best. dog. they are not great guard dogs. cause they love pretty much any human . even kids. do you research on them and you will see. I have two and they are the most loyal and intelligent dogs i have ever had. they good with my sister 3 year old.

Hell no!! A lab is JUST as likely to attack as a Pit...the reason dogs attack is because they are teased, they aren't socialized, or they are trained to be aggressive.. ..NOT because they are a bully breed. You know, when a collie or lab attacks someone, it doesn't go on the media. When a bully breed attacks, it goes everywhere on the media. That's why it seems why bully breeds are "vicious", if you listen to the media.

Your Answer: It is so sad that these dogs get such a bad reputation. the only publicity you ever see about them is always negative. But their nature is quite different. They are trained by low lives to fight, therefore their reputation is shot. They can be very friendly family dogs, and many of them are. Pits are not mean by nature but by genetics and the way they are raised. People who have aggressive dogs breed them together to produce aggressive dogs and on and on. Good breeding and proper training by loving owners will produce wonderful pit bulls who can live well as a family pet. I have a pit/lab mix and she is an angel.
I think for the people who already own a pitbull, they should be restricted greatly, meaning there should be special rules put into place, like mandatory spay/neuter, no litters allowed, 7 ft high fully fenced backyards, and liability insurance that is very expensive. All the pitbulls in shelters should be put down and the ban against pitbulls should be established in all of the States and other countries also. Any dog that is people aggressive should be put down.
wow. really. i would have never thought that a pitbull would kill a person. little dogs are much more vicious and usually try to protect themselves more because they try to act brave. they will usually bark a lot and stuff like that. but never would i have thought that a small dog will kill someone. how did that happen. usually you would think the larger, stronger dogs would hurt someone like that.
NO ! People kill people everyday and they get put in jail then let out and their done, why should Pit Bulls including the many innocent ones be put to death ??? I read that a Lab puppy killed someones baby, does that mean all Labs should die ??? NO

Most definitely not! I am not a big pit fan, only because BYB's have been so irresponsible.. It is BYB's who will sell to anyone and breed their dogs with anything that have helped cause this problem. In-breeding and owners that train their dogs to fight have caused this breed to turn out so horribly. It's just sad. Along with the fact that pit attacks make the news the most out of any others because they are so universally hated gives them an even worse rep. I've known some good and some bad. So 'no' I don't believe they should all be put down.

I will never trust a pitbull. Just yesterday in Orlando, (I live about 30 minutes outside Orlando) a guy had to shoot and kill his two dogs, one a pit and one a bulldog, because they started to fight out of nowhere and were ripping each others faces off. They couldn't be separated and his wife & daughter were in danger trying to intervene. He had no choice but to shoot them. Animal control was called out and said the home life for the animals was fine, they had other animals and all were raised right and were nice. I just don't trust those dogs. Too many have been known to snap for no apparent reason, even the ones with "Good" owners. I don't think they should all be euthanized, sure there are some good ones out there, but I personally will never own one. Thumbs down huh? Sorry, my family is a little more important then a dog that has the potential to rip someone's face off. But, that's my opinion.
I feel completely heart broken over this issue. I must have answered this same question asked several different ways at least 20 times this week alone. Prior to being on YA I guess I never believed there could be so many people PROBSL. It sickens me!!! I know that I am not alone here. This is simply prejudice at its finest only targeting a specific breed of dogs rather than people.

Blame the deed, not the breed. No. That is breedism, the same thing that fuels racism and sexism. I in no way support dog fighting, but one thing the people involved in that require is the want to please the human. They want the dog that will fight the dog, not the human because during the fights the humans pull them away from the other dog. Any human agressive dogs get put down. It is irresponsible owners and humans that allow this stuff to happen and the media has a field day with it. Example of stupid human acts to encourage dogs to bite/attack: There was recently a news story about possibly banning pits here(people feel it is the owners thankfully) and the news aired a girl that went up to a dog in a fence to try and pet it I guess. That was plain Stupid for the girl to do that and the parent to allow it. you dont go into someone elses fence to pet a dog you dont know.
Definitely not.When a puppy is born,they are just as sweet as any other dog and its the way they grow up that influences the way they act.Sure, some dogs just have aggressive personalities,but that happens in every breed of dog.Besides,do you think that every person should be euthanized if they killed a dog?
No , the people that treat them like crap should be . A dog will behave the way an owner treats them . It's the news fault , whenever a toy/lab attacks someone it doesn't get mentioned, but when it's a pit bull or a Rottweiler then it's allover the news . That would be really painful for someone who owns a pit bull that never hurt a fly and yet their dog has to be euthanized , that's inhumane and cruel . No way, but some of their owners should be. Pit bull dogs are as friendly or as mean as any other dog out there. It is all up to the way they are trained or not trained. There should be an IQ test to have a dog. Any dog in the wrong hands is a dangerous animal. I have personally owned 3 pit bull dogs and they were all the sweetest most gentle dogs you ever met. But then again, I am smarter than the dog and never teach any dog to be mean. If you do some research, you will find that more people are bitten by little dogs like yorkshires and chihuahuas than pits. I do however believe that anyone who fails to train their dog, resulting in a bite should be prosecuted. Anyone who teaches a dog to be vicious for anything other than a licensed professional guard dog should also be prosecuted. Anyone who uses a dog as a weapon should be charged with assault with a deadly weapon. To my horror, I witnessed a man with his pit bull dog chained to a tree. He had his 4 year old daughter throwing rocks at it. I asked him what he was doing. He said, "I am training my dog to be mean." I said, "You are training your dog to bite your daughter, stupid!" I called the cops and DHS. He was obviously too stupid to have a dog or a daughter. He was arrested for cruelty to animals, as the officer witnessed what he was doing. The dog was seized & due to the stupidity of the owner, it was deemed a threat to the public and put down. No doubt it would have eventually attacked his daughter.
