Who discovered the movement of horses using pictures?
There is a guy in San Francisco who used a series of pictures to discover the different movements of horses at a walk, trot, canter, and gallope. It shows that all 4 feet are off the ground at a full gallope, I need to know the name of this guy. Thanks!

- boy, that's a true trivia question. best if you go to the moving pictures site or wikipedia. however, the whole event took place in SF, as you state, around late 1800s over a bet. three guys bet $$$ on whether horses' hooves left the ground at any time while traveling. one stated they did and the other two said no. a photo timed snaps were made at a local track and know what? horses hooves do leave the ground but not at four feet; more like two feet. however, all the fours left the ground, at the same time, and for a brief period, the horse is airborne. neat, huh? we all knew that but the snaps had to prove what was known to jockeys and other horse fanciers.
- It was the English photographer Eadward Muybridge taken when he lived in San Francisco. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muybridge
