  1. I wouldn't do that. They could easily get choked on them. Why do you need to identify them so young anyway?
  2. No, they might choke. No need to identify them until people start coming round to view them. They will start to show individual characteristics and traits at some point anyway. But if you were an experienced breeder, you would know that, right?
  3. F NO! If you can't tell whelps apart(why not?) dab a marker on em!
  4. no if you are a registered breeder you could tat too, you pups ears to identify them !!
  5. I would think it would be if people are wanting to come and look at them to purchase one. When they leave, take them off.. They are growing so you don't want them to get too tight and choked while unattended.
  6. When my Golden had her puppies i put food coloring (non toxic) on their tails . This way when I checked their weight ect, I knew who was who. By the time they were old enough for collars the food coloring was almost gone
  7. No, that is not safe. Use markings on the dogs themselves to identify them...they surely have some distinguishing features about them to tell them apart. A white paw, maybe a white tip on the tail, one female, etc...
  8. i wouldn't because of the choking hazard. we've marked little guys with a spot of nail polish on the tip of the tail when it's necessary
  9. yes- that's how lots of people keep their pups identified. it's fine. A string around their tail won't work. It will just fall off. Just make sure the ribbon is tied securely and check it often to make sure it isn't getting too small because they will grow very quickly.
  10. I would wait til you are ready to sell them because while they are playing they can get the ribbon caught on something and choke. You don't need to ID them yet because you can't sell them yet. Do this when they are around 5-6weeks old, but as early as 3weeks.
