Whats The Name Of This Wolf / Dog Movie?

All i remember from this particular movie is that it's focus is the life of a wolf or wolfdog.The one scene i remember best is that while it's out int he wild during the winter season, there are 2 (?) men hunting him.They set out traps baited with meat to lure the wolf, but he's smart and kicks snow at teh traps to spring them before taking the meat and eating it.Finally one of the men poisons a chunk of meat witch the wolf eats a little bit of.I'm pretty sure it's not white fang and it's not a cartoon.Thanks.
