Are there any English Bulldog puppies ready in March that don't cost over $1500?
We want to get an English Bulldog puppy (male) but all I can find are breeders who charge over $1500. We live in Phoenix, Arizona and want a local pup.

- $1500.00 is the average price for this breed of dog.
- The reason the price is so high is because the dog is VERY hard to breed. They require artificial insemination most of the time and almost always need c-sections. They also come with a LOT of health problems with many possibilities of genetic illnesses (that responsible breeders test for.) I would check the local shelters, but i wouldn't go with the "cheaper is better" option for your wallet, because you'll end up with a very unhealthy dog that will cost loads in vet bills.
- -Don;t be afraid of paying more! We also have this breed, and we searched long and hard for the right breeder! Cost us a little over $2,000., but with no health issues, we got a bargain! Whatever the cost, make sure to check out the breeder, his facilities, and have the dog vet checked ASAP! You will also need a good contract to protect you from problems the first little while.
- Have you considered a breed rescue? Most breeders charge this much for these dogs because they are difficult to breed. in fact i don't think it's done naturally anyways..due to the weight difference in their front and hind end they are very clumsy and most breeders do artificial insemination . thus the cost. if you want a healthy puppy, bred to healthy parents...you pay the price, and in the end get a very healthy happy puppy instead of paying a BYB and getting a sickly bred dog.
- Yes, $1,500 would be on the cheap end for an English Bulldog. They are usually much more for a healthy well-bred dog. They are very popular and hard to breed. I would research the breeder long and hard before buying, too, because this breed is notorious for high vet bills and serious health problems promoted by irresponsible breeders.
- Would it be okay if you adopted? I know, you don't need to adopt. Some people do not feel comfortable with a abused or neglected dog. You do not need to adopt. Make sure it is not from a puppy mill though. Make sure you meet the breeder, and if she has bred before, ask for maybe e-mails or #s of maybe 1 or 2 previous buyers to see how those dogs went. Hope this helps!

- Sorry to tell you this but $1500 is quite reasonable for a Bulldog that you would want to own. Any Bulldog for less than that is more than likely less than that for a reason.
- just get one from a dogs home, why buy a damn dog. When people just breed em for money.
- For a good English you should pay more than 1500. They will have medical problems as they age. Make sure you go to a good breeder who has a history of their lines. If you find one for under 1500 you will be paying more than that in the long run with vet bills and surgeries.
- Bulldogs are expensive to breed.. any breeder selling less than that is not one worth going to.. if someone is selling cheaply, that means they are cutting corners and not doing proper genetic health tests and medical care.. A "cheap" bulldog will cost you more with vet care later. This breed is prone to so many problems.. it just doesnt pay to shop for the cheapest available.. you are far better off to do more reasearch, save your money, and get on a waiting list for a pup from a reputable breeder.. http://www.thebca.org/
