1st Question: In a make believe horse race between five famous horses, Citation finished one length ahead of Seattle Slew. Spectacular Bid finished ahead of Citation but behind Secretariat. Man O War finished 4 lengths ahead of Seattle Slew and one length behind Spectacular Bid. What was the finish place of each horse? __ My answers was, 1st place Secretariat 2nd Spectacular Bid 3rd Man O War 4th Citation 5th Seattle Slew ___ 2nd and last question. A ball rebounds one half of the height from which is it dropped. If the ball is dropped from a height of 128 feet and keeps bouncing, how far will it have traveled all together when it strikes the ground for the 5th time? __ I got 124 feet.

1. I have no idea about the first one, I've never been really good at those. EDIT: After a closer look, I think you got that one right. =) The second one... First time it drops, it will only get back up half as high, so 64 feet, but also 64 feet down, 32 up, 32 down, 16 up, 16 down, 8 up, 8 down, 64 + 64 + 32 + 32 + 16 + 16 + 8 + 8 = 128 + 64 + 32 + 16 = 160 + 80 = 240 feet. At least that'd be my guess.

4. I got the same answers as you for the first question, but different for the second. Here's my reasoning: The first time it hits the ground, it has traveled 128feet. Then it rebounds 64, falls 64 to the ground (bounce #2), rebounds 32, falls 32 (bounce #3), rebounds 16, falls 16 (bounce #4), rebounds 8, and falls 8(bounce #5). That means the ball traveled 128+64+64+32+32+16+16+8+8 = 368 feet.
