RACE HORSE TRAINING?HELP?

Heyy. well I have a 4 yr. old race Pony. Can 2nd at a Race so Far, just wondering do you think that if I use Blinders/Blinkers on him it will help him focus better? Also When I am riding him I can tell He not even Half Trying. At the End of a Race we came in 2nd he Barely even Broke a Sweat. Plus we've seen him Move! But in the Race he seems Slow. Please Help. READ BELOW! _______________ HE HAS NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT OR BADLY ROUGHED IN A FIELD. WE'VE HAD HIM SINCE FOAL. HE WAS BORN HERE. AND HE LOVES TO COMPETE. HE JUST SEEMS TO BE NERVOUS AT THE TRACK WITH HORSES HE DOESN'T KNOW. WHEN HE IS ON OUR TRACK RACING WITH OUR HORSES HE IS GREAT!!!

2. 2nd place is not bad....try a leading jockey next time out....
3. It would be worth a try. Have you tried them on him while doing track work or trials? That's what we do with ours, let them actally wear them before they race. I strapped a filly that had never had them on before and she was a bit spooked because she couldn't see the crowd properly. Luckily I was her regular strapper so I was able to calm her down.
