Where can I find out about adopting pure blooded wolf pups, not mixed breeds?

  1. You can't i guess
  2. Wolves are WILD animals and it is illegal to keep them as pets. Grown a brain
  3. Google it for your location, I know it's illegal here in WA.
  4. How about a nice football or dolly instead??
  5. Wolves are wild animals. Go find a forest, and see if a wolf pack will adopt you.
  6. I don't think you can, in the USA anyway. It is illegal Why would you want a wolf as a pet. Their wild instincts r far too strong to ever be able to trust it anyways.
  7. Yes, it is illegal as one poster mentioned. Can you imagin ethe law suite you'd get after your 'pet' wolf got territorial on a baby, toddler, elderly? Wolves are pack animals that thrive on being with other wolves/their family. They are so sociable with their animal pack that mothers even let the aunts babysit their pups. They are group oriented. To steal them from the wild is to steal their souls and their hearts.
  8. You can't....and even if you can you shouldn't. Wild and domesticated are two entirely different things....wild belongs wild.
  9. And I want to find a full blooded Lion (a nice big buddy for my cat) Wolves are wild animals who belong in the wild. I hear they are illegal in Most states in the USA (they are illegal over here in England)! They are not like dogs. They don't think and do things the same.
  10. wolves and wolf hybrids are illegal in most states. There are some people with sanctuaries for them.. but they have special wildlife or exhibitor's licences (whatever is required in their area).... as well as acres of securly fenced in yard. A "secured" fence is one that is at least 10 ft high.. or more, depending on what the law is in your area. There is a reason why these are illegal as pets.. they do not make good pets! Wolves are wild animals and cannot be domesticated.. not even as cubs.
  11. owning a wolf is illegal, wolves are wild animals and that is where they belong, in the wild. leave them there, they are much more beautiful in the wild rather than chained up in a backyard because the person who took it found out that it was wild and not domestic at all, and eventually the humane society or animal control will come and take it, and put it down
  12. Wolves are wild animals, not pets. http://www.quadrant.net/amcc/About/Flyers/hybrids.html
  13. There are a LOT of things you have to do before adopting a wolf pup. Wolves are wild animals and you must have a permit to own one. But to be honest, I would suggest not getting one. As mentioned, they are wild animals. They are not domesticated and are not like dogs at all. Many, many wolves and wolf-dogs end up in rescues or killed because owners that have no idea what they are getting into purchase one. There are soooo many wolves and wolf dogs in rescue. If you really want one, consider adopting. But please think carefully about it. Its not like raising a dog at all. http://www.fullmoonfarm.org/index.php http://www.thegreywolf1.com/wolfdogrescuewolfdogadoptionwolfdog.html http://users.aol.com/wolflvr3/help/rescue.html
  14. Why would you take an animal from his natural habitat? And why would you buy one from someone you know took it out of it's natural habitat. Wolves are wild animals and should be kept that way. You have no right to own one. And plus, it's illegal in many places. Get a gold fish.
  15. While it may be difficult to find a breeder of pure wolves, since many state laws prohibit this practice, it is still possible to locate many breeders of wolfdogs or other types of pet wolf hybrids. By sticking to reputable breeders, you may be able to find the unique pet and companion you've always wanted. Read on to learn more. http://www.ehow.com/how_2056678_locate-pet-wolf-breeder.html
  16. the lure of the mythic lone wolf companion calls yet another. Great in concept, Horrible in reality. Wolves are pack creatures, they do NOT fare well in homes with humans. Eventually, a contest of wills comes to pass.. and usually the wolfs way of showing he is boss ends up with a human that is injured and a wolf being euthanized. Dont do it. For one It is illegal in the US to own a wolf. For two, its a legal nightmare when the creature bites someone, Notice i didnt say IF, And for Three.. why? Why do it? We've hunted, shot, traped, poisoned wolves to near extinction, now people want to turn them into domestic animals and seal their fates.
  17. i do know they are illegal but to have one you have to get a permit my husky was part wolf and believe it or not it had to be registered a certain way and also had to have a permit (adopted from a shelter)
  18. You can find out here: http://www.wolfhaven.org/think_again.php If you are asking on Y!A to find out WHERE to purchase a full-blooded wolf then you have no business getting one. You obviously haven't the first clue what is entailed about harboring a pure wolf, not a clue. ADD: Misshicc: that link is full of useful info for someone who already has had wolves and/or wd's for years, BUT no reputable breeder of wolves (or high contents) would sell to ANYONE who hasn't any background, knowledge or education pertaining to wolves.
  19. If you think you can do this while living in the mountains alone, that would be your best best. They are not legal. However, there is a "breeder" in our area who breeds hybrids. Still not legal, but of course they don't care. Anyways, I have seen a few of the pups, different litters, raised to adults. They frequent the same parks and beaches we do. I thought they were nice ... at first... as pups. However, as adults, even as a hybrid, they have a wild side that is not a side or force you want to reckon with! One of them the owner admits she can't control him, he controls her! Its a scary site when they growl too.
