How do I keep my cats from eating my birds?
2 cats are in and out cats. I like to feed the birds. How can I discourage cats from eating my birds? yes, the darn cat can stalk silently - even with a bell collar. lol, Mike Ok, there is those birds that only eat on the ground. I worry about those. I have suspended feeders for the rest.

- put a collar on with a bell
- the bell collar works well but the cat will eventually find a way out of it (mine always have) sadly i dont know either hope someone gives a good answer this little bugger has been doing it for a decade nothing i try stops him
- the best way is to put them in a cage or tie a collar on their neck and put it where it cannot see the birds. that's all! [[.my own opinion.]]...
- I had the same problem, I put a bell on my cats collar but it only made more stealth. So every time he killed a bird I bathed the cat and put a large bell (aprx 5cm wide) on his collar. He didn't like as the bell dragged along the ground and rang. It took around 2 weeks then he got the message, now he doesn't bother with birds. Good luck Mike
- get an Eagle.. then it will be the cats problem.
- get mice?
- Where do you feed your birds? I used to feed them on a stand high enough that it won't allow cat to catch the birds. We also installed a collar on the leg of the plat form so that cats wont climb them. We have hanging bird feeders also in use to avoid such accidents. The methods can vary with the kind of birds visit your garden.
- The facts of this matter are putting bells on your cats only works for a short time and will eventually only serve to make them even better hunters, the best you can do is set up the bird feeders in such a manner (such as setting them on metal posts) so that your cats can't hunt them...
- u can tie your cat or keeep your birds in a cage
- You could build a wire mesh cage about 4x4 ft.with chicken wire 1.ins.diameter then small birds could go in and out to feed , Other wise keep the cat's indoors,or make bigger feeding trays. But in all probability you will not be able to solve your problem. Cat's are born hunters and killers.
