Cross Breeds

I'm doing a project on animal cruelty, can anyone help me find some good websites and pictures?

My major thesis is that "traditional" practices can be cruel, and we shouldn't let them continue just because they're tradition. I'm looking for pictures and information on any cruel, inhumane, or ignorant training or care practices. And I'd like some ideas as well, since I'm sure there's alot more going on out there than even I'm aware of. Here's a list of things I've thought of, please feel free to add to it. horse racing soring horses dog racing bucking horses calf roping steer roping docking dogs and horses tails, and dogs ears I'm SURE there's a lot I'm not thinking of, so help me out. I know there's basically cruelty in every sport that involves animals. Luckily for me I'm usually too naive to think people would hurt animals on purpose, and it doesn't occur to me.

  1. peta.com if thats not right then peta.org
  2. www.stoppuppymills.org - That's about as cruel as it gets!
  3. Definetely www.peta.org, www.animalcruelty.org, the ASPCA (http://www.hsus.org/acf/cruelty/) and Humane Society (www.hsus.org/acf/cruelty) as well. You can look into puppy mills, animals used for food (meat, eggs), animals used for testing (medications, cosmetics), animals in entertainment (circus) Sounds like a wonderful project, and all the best.
  4. Since there is already so much publicized on animal cruelty, it almost seems as if you are looking for new ways to be cruel to an animal..could this be true? I don't think we need to give "the abusive" any more ideas on ways to deliberately hurt defenseless animals.
  5. You could right an entire thesis on the money made, and the cruelty of Pet Mills in this country. Look where the money is prevalent. ADD: You are seeing answers about contacting PETA be very careful, they are not a reputable agency and very few times actually give correct information. ADD: I also agree with the posters that tail docking, ear docking or dew claw docking is not cruel and needs to be done in working dogs
  6. Docking tails and cropping ears is actually done to prevent injury, and there HAVE been many injuries on un-docked dogs. When it's done at a very young age, it's completely humane and prevent potential pain and suffering later on. http://www.cdb.org/letters.htm Perhaps you should write something on puppy mills. There are dozens of websites on that. http://www.prisonersofgreed.org/
  7. u should talk to pet stores .... bout 90% of their puppies come from puppy mills but trying to get them to admit it will be the tough part !!
