2. Well, not many ladies would have gone to the horse races in the 1920's, because respectable women didn't go to the races unaccompanied. The crowd would have been overwhelmingly male. 3. The first link within the sources box is specifically of a woman at a race track during the 1920s. Of particular note, the style of hat seems to have been big during the 1920s in women's fashion. An article from Wikipedia addressing fashion in the 1920's has a couple of good photos ("1920s in fashion").
