Discontinued Breyer Horses. What's the reason. Anybody know?
Public Comments
- I think the Breyer company is introducing some new horses. That might be the reason.
- I would think there could be a couple of reasons. Ones that didn't sell well, so after a year or two or so, they discontinue them. Another thing is they do "limited runs" where they only do so many of a certain mold. It makes the models more attractive to collectors if there's only X amount of them. Another one I've noticed, the new tennessee walker mold is a flat shod horse instead of the traditional "big lick" pose. I think that one is driven by the huge amount of negative publicity the walking horse world has received regarding padded horses. I may be wrong, but I'm thinking Breyer probably won't run another padded twh....at least in the near future.
- Most likely to create collectors items. They offer Limited Edition Breyer horses too. If something happens to your statue you can usually find them on Ebay. One of my discontinued statutes fell off my shelf and broke its tail off and I found it on Ebay. Happy Collecting!
