What is the best kind of Breyer horse?

I just got a new traditional breyer horse off Ebay but I'm not happy with it, (because it was used and in bad condition) but what is the best kind of Breyer? Traditional, Classic, Special Runs, what? And are the Classics Breyers smaller? I want to get a perfect very first Breyer.

  1. Now that is a tough question! All of them are nice in their own way. Traditional Scale is the largest, then Classic, Little Bit, Stablemate. Breyer is also one of the least expensive, yet nicest, model horse out there. Check out Stone Horses too. It all depends on what you really like! You can find cheap Breyers on Ebay but sometimes the condition is not good. Be sure to look for wording such as mint condition, live show quality, new in box. Follow some of my links here to some great Breyer sites! You can spend a lot of money, or a little. Special runs and limited editions will always be more expensive but does not necessarily mean they are better. Just get what you like! Have a great time with the hobby!
  2. I agree with Nancy on this. It is what you like and what you want that matters. Definitely check the wording in the ad... if it says stuff like "rubs, scratches, chips, breaks, etc" then keep looking. If it says "mint" or "near mint" or "excellent" condition then if you like it bid on it. Of course you probably aren't going to get better than "new in box" - but sometimes (though very rarely) they can have flaws too. If they are using "actual" photos of the model and not some stock image you might be able to tell from those if they have any damages. Another great place to check... if you have any antique or second hand stores in town go check them out. I've got a few in this area and sometimes they have horses... some times they don't. I've picked up some pretty nice horses for not a lot of money by going to Goodwill and other thrift stores. Good luck with your search!!!
