What's the best way to clean old Breyer horses?

Most of these models are at least 25 years old. They have a sort of filmy grime that won't come off with just soap and water.

1. Try some window cleaner. If that doesn't work, try rubbing alcohol and a paper towel. Be very careful not to damage the finish. It is amazing what Breyer horses are worth now. My sister had a great collection of them.
2. Are these an antique or collectible?? Be very cautious. You can reduce value by cleaning if these are collectibles. I would use an extremely gentle cleaner.
