mixed breeds are more friendly

  1. The sheer number of false ideas in your question and details astounds me.
  2. pure breeds are more reliable for their attitude, you already know that for instance, pretty much all golden retrievers retreive. But with a mixed golden retriever and a english setter, it may not. I agree with you though. Alot of pure breeds are overbreeded.
  3. i love mix breeds, but im talking about a shelter pet, instead of a "designer dog." you are true about them normally being nicer, because you get the best of both the dogs, or in most cases all of the dogs...
  4. pure =pure... mixed = mixed simple as that.
  5. haha where did you get the idea that mixed breeds are friendlier?? it's just a matter of personal preference. some people prefer pure bred dogs and some prefer mutts.
  6. Well there is a sweeping generalization... Neither is better than the other. They both have their good and bad points. And it actually has more to do with each individual dog than the breed or breeds it is comprised of. I'm not really sure where you are getting this "fact" that mixed breeds are more friendly...but I can assure you that isn't the case with all mutts. I adopted a mutt that is very dog-aggressive. He doesn't look to "friendly" when he is snarling and lunging at other dogs....
  7. BECAUSE they are. plus if brought from a reputable breeder they are: *KC reg *Hip scored *Health checked *NOT bred for money *All the reletive teats have been done to ensure that the dam and sire are both healthy and can breed *Show quality *And bred with KNOWLEDGE. all the above are not true with mutts. no reputable breeder will even think of breeding mixed breeds. OH and if you go through a shelter you will find that the majority are unwanted mutts and runts. (please note that im not saying that there are no purebreds in there)
  8. I feel that people that get pure breds want a certain type of temperament and look so they know what they are getting. A mixed breed can have all different kinds of temperaments and most people don't want to take a chance that the dog won't fit into their lifestyle. I have both mixed and pure bred dogs. Both kinds make great pets.
  9. Too general question and conclusion :-) I have a great doubt that a mix of doberman and pitbul will be "friendly".
  10. Well, many people don't. But your second statement isn't true either. Mixed breeds aren't any more friendly than purebred dogs... You saying that isn't any different than someone saying my purebred X is better than your mixed breed. Most true dog lovers like them all and know they are all unique.
  11. Any dog can be friendly and dog can be mean. Any dog can have health problems. Any can be very healthy. Simple as that.
  12. Everyone to there own .I myself have never had a mixed breed but i like big dogs and the only way to guarantee a large dog is to buy what you know is going to be big.I have never got rid of a dog they stay with me for life.I don't think pure breeds are any better its just what i prefer
  13. i like mixed breeds and am getting a mixed Toy Poodle soon
  14. i have both purebreds and mixed. i love them all, it's more of a preference really. if you want a certain type of dog, get a purebred, if you just want a fun loving family pet and aren't showing or breeding, get a mixed breed. dogs are great no matter which kind. it's all up to the prospective owners.
  15. Those are the same people that think they have to pay $250 and up for one pair of jeans just because of the label on it. Friendliness depends more on the dogs upbringing than its breed, although some breeds are bred specifically to exhibit a certain temperament. Just so you know, mixed breeds are generally also healthier, they don't have the problems that are associated with inbreeding and recessive genetic illnesses.
  16. Both purebreds and mixed breeds are wonderful. Both purebreds and mixed breeds are friendly. Both purebreds and mixed breeds can be healthy. Just because a dog is a purebred doesn't mean it's better than a mixed breed. Just because a dog is a mixed breed doesn't mean it's better than a purebred. Neither is better than the other. I love both mixed breeds and purebreds.
  17. So...where's your proof that mixed breeds are more friendly?
  18. Why do I like my Purebred over Mixed breeds? Well I like mix breeds also depends on the dog. I like pure breds better as I know about the genetics, that the breeder tested them geneticly, that they have all the vet care that they could possibly get (not just what they could afford). They have parents that were shown or grandparents on both sides that have champions. I know the breeder and can call them if I have an issue with the dog. I also have a contract that protects my dog, and my self if their is a genetic problem with my dog. I also have a piece of paper that shows the lineage of my pet. THis is why first and for most that I love my purebreds. I have also owned mix breeds and they were all good also (two). But they were just that mix, mutt, mongrels, not a designer breed. (that is what I dont like is the designer breeds) There is no such thing as a designer breed or a designer breeder. Not all mix breeds are friendlier either... I will put my doberman up against any mix that you think is friendly. I bet she licks you to death befor your mix does.
  19. Well your not correct stating mixed breeds are more friendly. Mixed breeds or purebreds can be equally friendly or not friendly. Some people are just dog snobs, they like to say my purebred dog cost me this much money and he is from this fancy place ect...it's all a bragging thing to those type of owners. I personally like rottweilers and larger breed dogs, I like their personality and proving that not all large breeds are killing machines. I like the rotties look, I think they are beautiful dogs so that's my preference. My sister has a pb jrt and a mixed breed springer x border collie....they both are fine...it has nothing to do with being pb. It's personal preference really, some might like a certain breed and therefor get a pb dog...some might fall in love with a sweet mixed breed dog.
  20. I don't, mutts are my favorite breed. I currently own 3 mutts. Although I know all of their lineage and could come up with some designer dog breed name. I thinks mutts are better because they are less likely to have health issues, are cheaper on the upfront purchase prices (unless you fall into the designer breed bullcrap) and you can get the best of more than one breed. Take my Staffie/JRT/BC for instance-she has the BC & JRT smarts, the Staffie loving regard for humans, the BC loyalty to humans and drive to please, the intensity & drive of BCs & JRTs, can jump like a JRT at BC heights, has the muscle tone of a staffie and is totally kick a** at Disc Dogs because of it.
  21. People seem to forget that all current dog breeds started out as a designer breed. Greyhounds were breed for speed, St. Bernard’s for strength and courage, and Chihuahua’s for companionship and portability. Yet, people are suddenly disturbed by the idea that humans would want to take the best traits from certain breeds and combine them to meet the needs and desires of our present lives. I don't think either are better. They are dogs and a lot of their behavior depends on how they are raised.
  22. Take every dog on its own merrit ihave 2 Border Terriers, and think the world of them, but one of the best dogs i ever had was a cross breed ( Terrier Cross) always loved terriers.dogs are like people everyone is diffrent sorry for insulting the dogs.
