Dog breeds that are friendly with other dogs?
Im interested in getting a puppy, i was wondering what specific breeds are friendly with other dogs? Is it more dependant on breed, training, or just specific dog relationships? I want to take my dog out to see other dogs and not have to worry about the possibility of fighting

- Labs!!!
- i got a boston terrier and shes amazing! she gets along with my other 2 chihuahuas, my boyfriends cat (loves the cat), and every dog she meets. overall a great breed.
- That's a pretty broad question -- people who have specific breeds can answer how their dogs are in groups. My breed (shetland sheepdogs) generally get along fine in groups and with other dogs. They are not overly friendly with other dogs, but they tolerate or ignore them. Most terriers do not get along with within groups. That's a generalization, but it is *generally* true. And yes, it really is dependent on the individual dog, training, etc. Dogs generally learn "pack" behavior from their siblings, so you want to make sure that you don't get a puppy/dog that was taken away from his mother and littermates too early. Such dogs don't have much "dog sense" and frequently are not sociable with other dogs.
- Golden Retrievers!!
- Most dogs are pretty good. If you get them as a puppy you just have to make sure you let it play with as many dogs as possible and make sure you bring it to meet new people and all that good stuff. But it you have an idea about what dog you may want just go on google and find out as much information you can about it. I have an english mastiff and she is great with all dogs and people!!
- Any dog breed can be good with other dogs if properly socialized at a young age. I have two American Pit Bull Terriers. Historically, they're supposed to be dog aggressive but both of mine LOVE dog playdates and romping at the dog park. They LOVE the company of other canines. For each breed a LOT of it is socialization as well as the breeding.
- it depends more on the temperament of the individual dog then the specific breed.
- Labs! As previously stated. They get along with EVERYTHING! and they're a pretty chill dog, or active. Most labs are a full spectrum.
- Any breed of dog can be friendly with other dogs as long as they are socialized and trained properly. I have 2 APBTs that love meeting new dog friends. They play a bit rough, but are amazingly gentle with smaller dogs. They seem to adapt their play style to the dogs they are around. Remember, you can NEVER trust dogs alone, so keep a close eye on your dog (when you get one) at ALL times. Your dog may be wonderful with other dogs, but that doesn't mean that every other dog is as well.
- Dog-friendly dogs Bernese Mountain Dog Briard Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Cockapoo (Cockapoodle) Coton de Tulear Goldador Golden Retriever Goldendoodle Harrier Havanese Irish Setter Labradoodle Labrador Retriever Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen Puggle
- well it depends on the dogs personality.. for example my dog is half lab half cocker spainel.. both of those breeds are said to get along with other dogs perfectly.. but mine only likes specific dogs.
- There is always a chance of a dogfight breaking out even if you have the dog-friendliest breed out there. All is needed is for one dog to snap at yours and you have a fight. There are some breeds that are more prone to being dog aggressive. But the truth is if you socialize it a lot with other dogs while young then they won't have a problem around other dogs. My boy is GREAT with other dogs. Especially small dogs and he's a 95 pound bear! One time he was playing with a Doxie and when the Doxie decided to dominate him...Brasky just stood up, turned around and sat right on top of the Doxie! It was hilarious! http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/ Try that site. They have a list of every mutt and purebred imaginable. As well as their general temperaments and whether or not they are good with other dogs.
- Unfortunately things are not as simple as listing certain dog friendly breeds, ALL dogs, whether they are crossbred or purebred, have the potential to be aggressive towards other dogs. This is dependent on both nature (genetics) and nurture (training, socialisation). In saying this, there are breeds of dogs that are more likely, through genetics and specific breeding for these genetics, to show aggressive tendencies towards other dogs. Be aware that many websites/info are not very objective when it comes to describing the temperament of breeds. I bet i could find information on ANY breed of dog that says it is great with kids for example! Also be aware that every dog is an individual and just because the breed is generally known for dog friendliness this does not mean that the particular individual will be! For example, there are labs that bite kids, there are cavaliers that are hyperactive, there are lazy border collies and there are pitbulls that absolutely adore other dogs. In saying this, if this is priority in choosing a dog i would not suggest: Pitbull terriers Staffordshire terriers Terriers in general are often more dominant around other dogs Siberian Husky Malamute Boxers/German Shepherds can often be wary/dominant around larger dogs On the otherhand, retriever breeds tend to be quite dog social as do spaniels. This is a generalisation, don't be offended if your favourite breed is mentioned! Oh and finally, no matter what dog you end up getting, when you have your dog around other dogs you SHOULD be worried about the possibility of fighting, whether your dog is the instigator or another dog it is just a reality of having dogs interact together that their may be fisticuffs or worse...
- Any dog, can be friendly with other dogs if properly socialized. You should do your homework. Take a compatibility quiz.. google>animal planet>pets>dog breed selector, and if your not a moron, which i'm sure your not, you can just find your way from there. I feel I am contributing to the amt. of NOT homeless dogs n america. But if you ar elooking for specifics.. ~Most Retrivers.. (labrador, Golden, Nove Scotia Duck Toller, Chesapeake Bay, Flat coated) ~Pitbulls ~Boston Terriers ~Pointers ~Beagles ~Aussies ~Corgis But no one can truly know what you are looking for, after all, we are people, not miracle workers or mind readers. Before you get a puppy pure bred, you must do extensive research, somethings to consider are: ~How much time will i spend with this puppy? ~Do I have enough money to put into this puppy ~How active do I want my puppy to be? ~Do I care if my puppy barks much and that is only the begining. You may also want to ask yourself if you want to save a dog from a shelter? You could be saving a life! Shelter dogs can be the most social, healthy, and sweet dogs you have ever had..
- Actually all dogs can be really good around other dogs! If you socialize them early! And at the same time all dogs can also be dog aggressive if not socialized properly! So its more so the owners responsibility to make sure this happens!
