Dogs playing in the snow??Is it okay or is it bad for them?
I was wondering if it was okay for my 10 month old miniature dachshund to play in the snow. There is only 2 inches of snow. He is small and only weighs 9 pounds. He will be wearing a sweater and later he has to take a bath so he is going to take a nice warm bath. How long should he be allowed to play in the snow?

- its ok about 5 minuts!
- It's SNOW? How can it harm him? Are you worried about it being cold. Don't worry about it. But this is how you can judge. Put his sweater on, and if he has some, snow bootie type things. You bundle up(jacket, sweater) Put some boots on. Go outside with him, when you start to get really chilly, then it is time to let him back in. Spend 10 minutes in a warm room, then go back outside again.
- yeah its ok just don't leave him out there for too long and you just have to watch him he's learning :]
- you will know when He's ready to go in.I would say 15 minutes since He's being active.
- He'll love it! Let him have a good old snuffle around, when he's had enough, you'll know from his behaviour.
- yeah it's ok awww how cute a sweater he is a lucky dog playing in snow then having a nice warm bath
- It shouldn't matter as long as he's not out there for more than 10-20 min. Just watch him. My dachshund was just out in some a few minutes ago. :)
- It won't hurt them.They are having fun.Try it yourself.Make a snow angel,while he's making a winnie angel.
- it's ok, just watch him and don't leave him out on his own coz you will forget about him!
- It's okay as long as they enjoy it. My chihuahuas hate the cold weather but I have had a couple that loved to play in the snow. He will let you know when he is getting cold. I wouldn't leave him out longer than about 10 minutes at a time.
- If my dogs had their way they would be out in the stuff until ice balls formed on their fur! It is fine for your dog to play in the snow! Just as long as you set a time limit and watch for signs that he has had enough. If your dog starts to chew at it's paws to get the packed snow out it's time to bring him in! If your just about freezing then your dog is too! Like I said my dogs love the snow so their limit will be longer than your dogs but use you good sense and he should be just fine!
- he is fine he will let you know when he is ready to come in. also as to the warm bath don't give it to him right away let him be inside for a bout 2 hours so you don't give him a cold.
- yeah its alright my dogs love the snow! just make sure you watch him, and if he starts shivering or seems too cold bring him in.
