  1. maybe you are talking with the wrong people. ... dog lovers love dogs period..... mixed breeds are fine..
  2. we don't some of the best dogs I owned were Mixed breeds ,
  3. only snobs hate the mixed breed dogs i love all breeds of dogs and some of my friends have mixed breeds as well as pure breeds mixed breed dogs are less likely to have hereditary problems than a pure breed
  4. Not everybody does. There ARE individuals who are under the false impression that any mixed breed is "the bastard child" of non-related canines. But that shows how stupid some people can be! Mixed breeds are often less tempermental and easier to train. If you find any dog who LOVES YOU and you're willing to be patient during the training process...the loyalty and love you'll receive back will be worth it!
  5. My problem is not with the dogs. My problem is with the breeders who intentionally crossbreed to try to make a profit, and with uninformed, gullible buyers that plunk down ridiculous fees for these crosses. ADDED: quote from LISA ... "dog lovers love dogs period" I love dogs. I don't love every dog I ever met.
  6. One of the reasons why folks perfer to have purebred dogs is that if they are getting them for a specific purpose, they can be more assured that they will be more suitable for that purpose, or size or whatever. As for me, I actually think that many crossbred dogs take on the best caracteristics of each breed, may are healthier, etc...so, it's just up to the individual owerner as to their preference. I don't think that any dog lover HATES any dog, purebred or Heintz 57,
  7. My dogs are both and I love them all equally. I think the people that hate mixed breads are just in it for the money.
  8. I absolutely *love* mixed breed dogs!!! They are sweet and loyal and just as beautiful (if not more) than pure bred dogs!
  9. Most really don't. I have three dogs and two are your so called mutts. The funny thing with the mutt-haters they would be the first to want a puggle and pay top dollar for one. Go figure? Evita
  10. I don't hate them, both the dogs i have now are mixed breeds i use to have a purebred and i had more health issue with that one than i ever did with the 2 i have now. And also the 2 i have now are so smart. And fun to have around. I have had the one for 9 years and the other one is 3. There great. I really don't know if i would buy a purebred again. But actually I love Most all dogs. I say most because I am not to crazy about a couple of breeds like Rottweilers and pit bulls. to name a couple. But I do believe that these 2 breeds if raised right can be very nice dogs. My boy friend actually had a Rottweiler he was the biggest baby. (The dog i mean, not the boy friend) lol
  11. A lot of "Hitler like" dog lovers claim that mixing breeds creates a less superior dog. One that is stupid and full of health problems. I find this to be moronic. My dog is a lab/dachshund mix. I couldn't imagine not having him around. If breeders didn't "crossbreed" then you wouldn't have a of the so called purebreds that you have today. I don't agree with just letting your dog roam around when it's in heat though....a lot of dogs have to be put down for this :(. Which makes me sad!
  12. All 3 of my dogs are mutts from the shelter and I love them. Also, some of the most popular "breeds" today are mutts. Schnoodle, Labradoodle, etc are very popular and they are mutts. Even if their owners don't realize it.
  13. I don't think people hate mutts or mixed breeds. I know I don't. Mixed breeds make excellent pets. I had a few growing up. I got a Dal because I loved the way they looked and the temperament was very good. It was just the right size for my living space. With mixed breeds you are not sure exactly how big they will get. Some people like to enter dog shows (I don't) so they need a purebred dog. Another reason a purebred may be chosen is what it was bred for hunting, guarding, etc. I don't knock mutts though. They make some of the best pets. I just wish people were more responsible when it comes to spaying or neutering their dogs. The pounds wouldn't be so full of unwanted puppies if they were just responsible.
  14. I don't know anyone who hates the traditional mutts and mixed breeds---dog breed snobs are a stereotype and there are (thankfully) very few people who are like that. BUT I do have an issue with people deliberately mixing two breeds and slapping a cutsie name on them to make $$$. Breeding two dogs of very different temperments and abilities without proper health checks to make a quick buck makes me sick. The dogs are touted as having a certain personality and look ---when the "breeder" has NO clue how the pups will turn out. Then they sell the pup to someone with certain expectations and the new family is dissapointed and then what happens? How many animals end up in shelters and are euthanized? Someone gets a pug x beagle cross and is told they will have a loveable lap dog and then wind up with a dog that is obssessed with sniffing the ground, has extremely high energy and barks a lot---then what? With the regular mix or mutt you know that you've got a wonderful surprise package. My old mix had many of the best qualities of all three of his breeds---and unfortunately the health problems of them as well. :( He was great, though, and I wouldn't have traded him for the world. But if someone suggested that we should make more of his mix I would tell them no---because there is no guarantee the result would be anything like him and the health problems were painful for him and expensive for me. Now go play with your dogs:)
  15. Personally I own a purebreed Japanese Akita. I would 100% own a mix breed Akita. I think that people hate mix breeds due to the overall temprement and appearance of the dog being lost. However, there will always be those who breed purebreds so what does it really matter? A dog is special regardless. Personally I would love to own a Boerbeol/Angolian Shepherd mix. That would become the best guard dog ever.
  16. No dog lover "hates" mixed breeds. It's just that there are so many out there because people don't spay or neuter. Shelters are filled with mixed breeds and many are euthanized because there are not enough people to adopt them. The overpopulation can be easily controlled, but people continue to be irresponsible with their dogs...they don't spay or neuter and they allow them to roam and breed. Deliberately breeding mixed breeds are frowned upon because this also adds to the over population and some of these breeders are charging people lots of money for them which many of us pure bred breeders feel is unfair to people purchasing the puppy.
  17. Hi, Maybe that sort of people like to have original sort of thing regardless that mixed breeds are sometimes better than the original or the pure breeds.. Thank you. Leon
  18. I LOVE all kinds of dog couldn't careless about mixed or not. I have problem with backyard breeder BIG time BIG HUGE
  19. I don't hate mix breed dogs. I've had a few mixed breeds growing up. They were all just as WONDERFUL as my purebreds. A few of my mix breeds were free pups. and I believe I paid like $40 for my cockapoo. The problem today is people are coming up with designer dogs right and left and charging outrageous amounts for them. These are the same types of dogs that years ago were either free or people charged a small amount for them to cover their food expense. There are more of these poor dogs in pounds and shlters today then there were years ago.
  20. There's nothing wrong with mixes, they are some of the greatest dogs anyone could ever want. The problem is the people who intentionally breed mixes and try to pass them off as a new, designer breed. They lie about how they have "hybrid vigor" and they don't shed, and all that crap. Then charge hundreds of dollars for mutts. You have a rottie/ lab mix. That's great, my sister had one and he was the best dog ever. But if someone intentionally breeds a lab and rottie then tries to sell them as "rottadors" and wants people to pay $500 for them, that's a problem.
  21. I think mixed breeds are better, depending on the breeds that is...anything mixed with a lab i think is great! Labs are wonderful! Friendly, loving, and best friend!
  22. I've always owned Mixed breeds and I love them. The only way I would own a Purebred is if I got him/her from a shelter. There are too many shelter dogs who need a home.
  23. Generally, I don't think people hate mixed breed dogs. I think that it seems to be a "plus" if you own purebreds, like your purebred dog is better than the mixed mutts. But, oddly enough, most of us that own purebreds also own the mixed variety as well, and, like you, love them just the same. And just for the record, almost as many purebreds are abandoned and rescued as mixed breeds are.
  24. I love mix breeds. My first dog when i was a little kid was a collie/Shepard mix. She was great with me and my sister, we lived by a catholic elementary school and she would go and play with the kids at recess. Every one loved her. Some people are just snobby, the dog adds to a look or a prestige for them. If the have a pure bred and spend a lot of money on it, it makes them look richer, or like they have money and status. And a ot of people think that just because they have a registered dog that means that its is better, and it doesn't always mean that, puppy mills have registered dogs. Like someone else said realy dog lovers love all dogs even mixed breeds.
  25. I don't know I think thats kind of stupid, they are a dog all the same, and personally I used to have a chow mixed with something else, and it was beautiful!
  26. I have a mix breed and a pure breed dog. Nothing wrong with either of them. I must just say with my mix (Pug and a Boston Terrie) I have had no problems with him, no high vet's bills nothing to seriously with my mix. But with my pure breed Dalmatian I had a hug vet's bill (R10.000-00) but I love them the same way. They are give the same amount of love and attention - just not at the same time. I love my mix and my pure breed. The mix or mutts is just easier to train and not so stubborn as a pure breed. But in my eye - dogs is dogs does not matter mutt, mixed, pure breed. They did not asked to be like that the humans make them like that - if I can say so. But some people prefer pure breeds because they used them for a reason have a purpose (to breed etc). And some people prefer any dog just to have a companion, friend to give so love and to receive love back from their furry friend..
