Are there any animals extinct due to global warming?

I'm doing a college assignment and can only find a couple that are, but my friends have already chosen them and i don't really want to choose the same as them so i was wondering if any one on here could find any. yes i know most species are exinct due to habitat lost etc. BUT the asignment is asking, what species is exinct due to global warming.

  1. You could also turn the question around, and ask if there are any animals extinct due to global COOLING. A nice article written by Al Gore's primary global warming adviser stating there may have been worry about a famine from a reduced growing season. The cause? Global cooling. http://denisdutton.com/newsweek_coolingworld.pdf You could also ask if there are any animals extinct because of the now-closing hole in the ozone layer, which is now trapping heat in over the Antarctic, causing it to melt.
  2. I seriously doubt there are very many (if any) animals that went extinct only because of global warming. These species were most likely brought to the brink of extinction by other factors with climate change only being the final straw. The usual reason species go extinct are loss of habitat and over-predation and less commonly, disease. And while climate changes may be a factor, it is a secondary or tertiary one. There have been periods in recorded history when the climate was much warmer than it is today (or even predicted to get) and every species alive today survived those with little or no problems.
  3. No animals or plants are extinct because of Global warming.
  4. There are a lot of animals that became extinct after the last ice age. Climate change probably played a part in this. Some of these are mammoths, sabre tooth tigres, and ground sloths.
  5. There have been no extinctions that have been blamed on climate during the Holocene period.
  6. Animals have been going extinct for Billions of years. Most animals in the past few thousand years have gone extinct directly due to man either hunting them to extinction or taking their habitat, not global warming.
  7. One of the consequences of evolution is extinction. There are no animals, None, zero, zilch, nada, nein, that are extinct due to human emsssions of CO2. Lets get that straight. You are in colledge and truth should mean something. Don't exaggerate for effect. That has already been done to death. I am quite certain you can't mention these supposedly extinct species unless they are as Ben suggested, Mammoths or Saber toothed tiger ....
  8. No creatures have been killed by global warming, probably because it doesn't exist.
  9. Some frog species have gone extinct for reasons connected to global warming. See the link below.
