- Well first of all it really depends on how you would define abuse and cruelty, but assuming that our actions caused the extinction of all animals on earth; we would no longer exist as well. We have a symbiotic relationship with all life on the planet, a perfect balance in this ecological system that was developed over billions of years (approx 4.3) There are real threats to this system, alien invasions of species are happening now more often than any period in the history of the 4.3 billion years. National Geographic is a very good series on this alone, hosted by Edward Norton. Coupled with all the other changes caused by modernity, who know how long we really have left! 100yrs, 1,000yrs, 10,000yrs (very unlikely)
- If there were no animals (I guess you are refering to vertebrates in general and excepting human beings) on the world, food chains in global ecosystems would be collapsed. It would be a real catastrophe. Great extinctions however in the remote past (250 millions years ago and 65 million years ago) can not be attributed to human actions (there were not even humans in those times) but to another natural causes as meterorites impacting the Earth or sudden climate changes. I think we can not conceive ourselves (I mean mankind) so important to make a real impact on nature's order. It is easier that nature revert to us the revenge with those events that caused great extinctions from the past...
- That's highly unlikely considering even global mass extinctions still didn't wipe out all of the animals. But to play along, it would be the end of the human race as well. With no animals for meat, we would be forced to survive on plants. However, with no bees to pollinate plants, those would die off as well. The only people who would survive starvation would be those who can survive on kelp.
