Cross Breeds

Why don't we race very large horses so that bigger men can become jockeys?

If we allow larger horses to race, we can offer jobs to bigger and heavier men who would like to participate in the sport. A 6 ft, 200 lb man could become a jockey.

  1. Larger ones wouldn't be as fast.
  2. They're too slow.
  3. larger people are usually harness racing riders
  4. because .. they are to slow and to big to go the same speed. thoroughbreds, and even quarter horses were bred for speed and racing. but at the risk of them being fragile so they can go a faster speed and distance so lighter people have to race them. and thats not to say bigger people cant ride them its just saying you cant do racing with them because with a bigger person you couldnt go as fast.
  5. shaq o'neal will like that idea
  6. because even if they could carry that weight it would slow them down anyway... larger men can be exercise riders, owners, trainers, grooms, etc. and it's not just men who are jockeys... women are jockeys too although for some reason they seem to be more successful on the east coast... my favorite female jockey is carol cedeno
  7. there arent that many excessively tall horses.height,in all mammals, follows a bell curve, most people and horses falling into an average height for their species.if u raced a heavier, taller horse and man against an average or small horse and man,the larger duo would be at a distinct disadvatage .it could be like boxing,tho-maybe there should be a featherweight, middleweight, heavyweight correlation in equestrian sports as well?
