where can I find a healthy Maine Coon cat that does not break the bank.?

I live on a large property and currently have 3 dogs and 3 cats. My oldest cat is a 13 year old orange tabby. I have been looking for a purebred or close to it maine coon. My local shelter claimed to have several but they are not the real deal. I want a extra large cat. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars. As it is cats can be very expensive with veterinary care and so forth. Any ideas on where to look?

1. you can search on www.kijiji.com if you live in the states. After that, select your state and then pets, then cats. I found many mainecoons on there when I was looking. Some may be breeders, some may not and some may not know what they have. A lot of the posters also post photos of their cats. Good luck.
2. Petfinder.com. Do a search for Maine Coons. Breeders also adopt out retired cats from their breeding program for much less than the cost of a kitten. These can be as young as 2-3 years old. Most of these are up-to-date on shots and already altered.
