  1. yes they can, however they are very big cats
  2. okay
  3. I've always had two cats at a time. It's really no more trouble taking care of two cats than one. Most cat pairs get along well together.
  4. From my experience it depends on the personality of the cats more than anything else.
  5. I have a Maine Coon as well. They are very social cats. Mine has always seemed to be happiest when he has the companionship of other cats. He now has 2 "girlfriends" and is VERY content. I think it's a great idea for yours to have a roommate.
  6. I agree with KJ. It all depends on your cat's personality. Some cats are better off alone, others would love to have a friend to play with. One way you can find out if your cat would be a good candidate for a friend, is ask a rescue group if you could try fostering one. See how your cat gets along with it. If the cats get along good, then you can keep him. If not, you're not putting your cat out by keeping a kitty that he dislikes.
  7. Cats are pretty much solitary creatures and get along fine by themselves. If you get another, they may or may not get along - it just depends, as all cats are different. Some adult cats don't like kittens. There is no way of predicting if your cats will get along.
  8. maine coons like norwegian forest cats are social and pairs keep each other company so long as they can have seperate time too. i have three norwegian forest cat cross. and they do scrap sometimes usually when the youngest upsets his mum but otherwise we have total harmony and they are like a herd of elephants when playing but burn lots of calories.
  9. I have 3 Maine Coons, plus 8 other cats. Maine coons are very sociable cats and love company. I would suggest getting another one, because they are also very playful. And it would be great for your cat to have another one to play with. My maine coons are always playing together. Also, it would be lovely for you as well!
  10. Our Maine Coon seems happy enough in her position as the undisputed ruler of the house.
  11. In my experience when you first get a new kitten your original cat won't be happy about the new edition. But as time progresses the original cat will become used to the new kitten being there and will tolerate it and may even grow to like it :)
