What kind of dog is she??? How big will she get?
Okay, I have a puppy that I got from my aunt who had a golden retriever who got out and got pregnant, so I know my puppy is 1/2 golden retriever, what I want to know is what other breed she is mixed with. I know she has the markings of rottweiler, but I have noticed there are many other breeds with those same markings, so I don't necessarily think that is what she is. A little about her: She seems to be pretty muscular, she also has very skinny legs. She ALWAYS needs attention and follows me all around the house. When we put her in her gated area (in the house) or outside, she whines, (not at night, mostly just if she knows that we are awake or home and doing stuff). I am TRYING to break her of that! She is very hyper (probably from the golden retriever in her, haha). She digs. She weighs a little over 20 lbs now at 6 months. She tends to bark at any foreign noises, such as sirens (on tv or in real life), other barking dogs, or people outside doing their lawns. She is so sweet and loving! She is very patient with my three year old son, she's never acted aggressive towards him, and we all know that sometimes kids do things that a dog wouldn't like! Anyways, if anyone might know what she is let me know, I am attaching pictures and I was also wondering how big anyone thought she might get? Her mom was the golden retriever and is a pretty small one! Thanks in advance! http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m274/sunshinejenn19_2006/Misc013ed.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m274/sunshinejenn19_2006/Misc014ed.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m274/sunshinejenn19_2006/Misc015ed.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m274/sunshinejenn19_2006/Misc016ed.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m274/sunshinejenn19_2006/SD532410.jpg P.S. her paws are really pretty proportionate to her body, definitely not overly large!

- I sure hope your aunt has gotten her dog spayed. I doubt she'll get as big as a golden if she's only 20 lbs at 6 months. My Basset pup was was over 30 lbs at that age, and I consider her small.
- Count that she will get at least the size of a golden. Then, look at her paws, are they comically oversized? That usually means a puppy has a long way to grow!
- Doberman or coonhound, Hard to tell her face looks houndish. I would say shes going to get Retriever size at least. Maybe not as solid as one. Daddy could have been just a good ole Heinz 57... never know this coloration is very common in dogs. EDIT: I fostered a Female pure Golden that was pregnant by a pure Rottweiler. Confirmed by the owners who gave her up cause they didnt want dogs or puppies. They turned over the father too. There were 12 pups 2 died. ALL were black, only 2 had the Black and Tan marks. As adults some looked like Black Rets. Some looked like Labs. The 2 that had the Tan on them looked like Hounds one with short hair one with long. They all looked so different NO one would have believed they were 1/2 Rott. I do not think your do is ROTTIE mixed though she is no where never massive enough, Its possible but I think shes going to stay on the petite small size making the Doberman or Hound a more likely candidate.
- that coloring is in several breeds like rottweilers, dobermans and hounds. She may have the coloring of her dad, but the size of her mom. I have a male golden who's mother was small - he's over a year old and only weighs 49 pounds.
- Looks kinda like a doberman cross to me, but i dunno :/
- a MUTT...lmao
- I would say rottweiler... None of the other breeds mixed with goldens that I looked up look anything like her... and those markings...tell tale sign of a rottie.. add: her ears are nothing like a dobie...dobies have HUGE ears if left uncropped. If you look up rottie ears....they are the same shape...she looks alot like my female rott
- she is a sweetie and a very pretty pup, she looks like she has a mixture of rottie and shepherd in her. she will fill out and possibly have a big growth sprut by the time she is around 8 mths old and userally they stop growing in height by a yr old. some retrievers have large paws when young and at one time it was said the size of their feet shows how big they will grow but my nieces pure bred lab has monster paws and he never got that big and is only around 2 feet tall and roughly 50 lbs but is very muscular and strong. he was the runt of the litter but is a nice healthy loving dog at 7 yrs old.ur girl seems to have a great temperment and looks very happy and playfull. make sure she never bites or growls at ur son and if so scold her right away and give her nose a good tap so she will not nip him and hand feed her treats and take them back again so she won't guard her food, say good and let her take it gently out of ur hand and enjoy it. i have always trained my pups this way and they are all good with their meat and treats and i can retrieve them out of their mouths at any time and it helps if there is something stuck inside that u can get at. have a great time with ur pup and family.
- I think Texelgirl2 (Top Contributor) says it all, she sounds very knowledgeable for this question!
- I'm guessing her dad was just a run of the mill Heinz 57, possibly a Shepherd mix?
- They say at 6 months your dog is at half his adult weight. So he shall be about 40 lbs plus.. my pup was 82 lbs at months and now he is 122lbs! http://www.flickr.com/photos/29035692@N03/sets/72157606499545955/ he should be plus at full size. As to your breed ..golden ? I have not got a clue ,but she sure is cute.
- She looks almost exactly like my german shepherd puppy. Look at photos of them. she might be a product of a shepherd mutt and a golden. I expect her to get to be about 50-60 lb anyway. She looks like a great family dog. Get her fixed now. She can break out a window to get out to part-tay. No one needs more mutts in the neighborhood. Also, get Caesar Milla's book on dog behavior to nip any bad habits now. Take her for long walks on a leash to imprint that YOU are the boss. Do not love on her when she is stressed and barking. Do not allow her to jump on anyone. Don't allow your son access to her if HE cannot be trusted to behave. Watch closely to prevent any abuse. That barking can be nipped, too. Good luck.
