what do you think? Puggle or labbe?
Hi I have owned a labrador and a german shepard before and now me and my new wife are looking for our first dog together. She likes labrador's and i like all breeds but although our first house together has a large back garden the house its self isnt quite big enough for a lab. one of my friends has a puggle however and i read about the labbe or beagador as some call itand liked the idea of that as i am to understand they are just as close to a miniture lab as you can get. I dont agree with designer dogs bred on order but i do think mutts like these (as long as they are from reputable households or breeders) are every bit as good as a pedagree as it is a family pet we are after and not a show dog. I also looked at the boglen terrier but from what i have read they can be a little agressive towards children. any owners of a boglen teriier fell free to set me right on this. i know it most probibly is depentent on how it was raised but a little insite could be good. Can anyone tell me which dog would sound like the closer option for least amount of shedding and smaller of the two once fully grown, puggle/labbe? also any owners of either do you have any pictures? thank you very much, john.

- Let me strike this from your word: "labbe or beagador" and "mutts like these (as long as they are from reputable households or breeders)" They are no where near the same thing. MUTTS don't come from reputable breeders. Households aren't reputable breeders, they are back yard breeders. If you don't agree with designer dogs, don't get one. If you want a lab, get a lab. If you want a beagle, get a beagle. If you want the mix, get it from a shelter.
- These are all mutts.. NO reputable breeder creates mixed breed dogs! There's just no such thing as a responsible designer dog breeder! There's no guarantees with any of these mixes on size, temperment, coat type, shedding, health, personality, etc. You're best bet is to seek out an adult thru a shelter or rescue that has the qualities you are seeking.
- I totally agree with Patient Paws and Nekkid Bootie.

Then their eyes dont point different directions. LOL So not really keen on Puggles but they're ok I guess. Labbes are way better, though Luv, Aussie Babe Ps Though who am I to choose for you? All the people above me are simply being rude. When someone asks a question on Yahoo Answers, ANSWER IT, dont criticize it you jerks
- You don't aggree with Designer Mutts? then why do you want to BUY one? Thing is, NO responsible/reputable breeder would EVER even THINK about breeding Mutts. Anyone who breeds Mutts are doing it purely for MONEY. If you want a Mutt, adopt from your local shelter, because there are THOUSANDS. Why does it have to be a 'Puggle' or 'Labbe'? Why don't you just get a Pug or Beagle? Why does it have to be mixed? Okay, you have kids, and when you have a Mutt, even if you know the parents, there is NO certainty of the dog's temperament, behaviour or even looks. Look, here is one Pug x Beagle. http://www.designer-canines.com/images/puggle_puppy.jpg And here's another. http://rickpie.com/media/1/20070626-jack2.jpg Here's one Lab x Beagle. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images16/LabbeSasha1year1.JPG And another. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images18/MIX2LabbeBeagleYellowLabSarahLee4Years.JPG No two Mutts, even if the same mix and from the same litter, look a like. The only responsible and reputable place to get a Mutt is from a shelter. - i have a lab and it is the best dog in the world PLEASE GET A LAB!!!!!!!!
- If you can find somebody who is breeding a designer mutt that does all the needed health tests for both breeds. Go for it. Of course, keep in mind that there is no guarantee that the dog you get with have the looks or temperament you want since it is after all still a mutt... Also, just because a dog breed is short coated, that does not mean they do not shed much. Labradors, beagles, and pugs all are know to be shedders.
- There is no such thing as a reputable breeder who intentionally cross breeds dogs. If you want a mixed breed dog (and that's what all of them are-no matter what name someone has given them) then go to a shelter and save a life.
- Ok I can understand your reasons for looking for a mix that resembles a lab. the thing is, with a lab/beagle mix you may not get the lab temperament. It could behave like a hound, which is totally different. Also you say you do not agree with designer dogs, yet you seem to be willing to pay the silly price for one. I would strongly recommend that you go round the local shelters. A lot of the dogs/puppies they get in are lab mixes. This would get you what you want, and you would not be giving your hard earned cash over to something you do not agree with. The money you would save could be used to buy all the stuff your puppy would be needing, plus leave some left over to give as an extra donation to the shelter if you wished.
- i would say labs because pugs have some wheezing problems because they have pushed in face
- It is a misconception to assume that there is any consistency in the "designer breeds" in regards to looks and temperament. There are just too many variables when breeding two different breeds to get the consistency in looks and temperament which is possible in pure bred dogs. Therefore it is impossible for someone to tell you precisely what a cross breed dog will turn out to be (BeagleXLab, Put x Beagle, etc - I refuse to call them by their "designer" names cos they are just made up to make the dogs more attractive to inexperienced dog owners). An owner of one of these crosses can only tell you of their experience with their own example of the cross breeding. There is nothing whatsoever wrong with a cross breed as a family pet, there is however alot wrong with purposely breeding these crosses for the purpose of making money, etc. There are plenty of lovely cross breeds of all ages in the rescue shelters. Please don't financially support the practice of backyard breeding or puppy mills by buying a puppy from them. Save a dog waiting to be euthanized, you'll feel really great about it and have a truly special bond with your dog. Good luck.
