Cat's pausing when eating food,is this something to be worried about?

When i gave my cat her dinner earlier today as she was taking mouth fulls she paused then swallowed,paused took some more then repeated it over again,this for me is worrying since ive never seen her eat this way before is this something to worry about? or is this normal behavior for a cat? thanks in advance to those who reply (Y)

1. Maybe he has a toothache or something wrong in his mouth. Check his teeth and check for decay or inflamed gums. If not, im sure this is just a habit he developed. Good luck.
2. She may have been startled by a noise she heard while eating or maybe having troubles swallowing her food. Have you changed her food? Cats are very particular about their food.
3. Maybe she was eating to fast and was slowing herself down. I would definitely check her mouth for any type of painful sore or tooth problem though. And I would monitor her for the next few days to make sure she is eating and drinking. She is probably fine, don't worry. Just keep an eye on her.
4. This is normal for many cats. However if you are sure this just started, she may ahve a toothache or something. If its a new food, she may just not be used to it. if she's old, it could just be part of getting older. Watch it and if it gets worse or she eats less than normal. Take her to the vet.
