Why do dogs get the glassy yellow eye in pictures?

I know that we see red eye's from time to time in pictures of people, but why do dogs produce the shiny golden cataract looking eyes?

  1. when ever a animals eyes (like dogs/wolves/foxes/ect, bears, dears...basicly any wild animal)...when ever you shine a light on them, some times its comes out red but when it comes out like a shinie yellow color its because of the film over their eyes. no not like the picture kind of film. this helps animals see at night with out problems. this is how they "hunt" in the wild or how if you let your dog out during the night, they can see where their goinig. ~~~hope this helps~~~
  2. my dog gets blue eyes
  3. The light actually goes into the dogs eyes and reflects back out through the pupil. Dogs eyes are denser than air so the different light frequencies refract differently (like a prism). The colour that comes back out depends on the density of the fluid in the eyes and the size of the eyeball. My dog (pug) has blue eyes in photographs.
