I adopted a puppy from the local humane society. I know he's a mixed breed but cant recognise the breeds.Help
He has a brown coat but its like cotton wool and so I can say he is a little furry. He has ears slightly smaller than a lab puppy and big brown eyes . His coat color seems to be that of a golden retriever. The humane society guessed he was a mix between a lab and a shepherd but I want to make sure to better understand his temperament. Been doing some reading on mixed breeds .

- Oh Lordy, that can be any dog mixed with any other dog in the world....you really need to post a picture so we could see and try to take a guess.
- sounds bout right, can yuou post a pic?
- you might want to post a picture... the visual aid is much better than a description! ;)
- A picture would be helpful. It would be easier for us to make educated guesses as well.
- Go to www.dogster.com and look for lab/shep mixes. See if they look like your dog.
- Well, the cotton feel might be the puppy coat, but if he keeps it, I'd say he might be a collie mix. Either border collie or the standard Lassie dog, or even a australian shepherd x lab mix. Most HS dogs are lab mixes because people buy labs thinking they'll be the perfect dog and they don't need to be fixed, and then don't train them and the moment that 'perfect dog' smells someone in heat or comes into heat, all heck breaks loose.
- posting a picture might help us say the dog has features from one breed or another that we are familiar with.
- A picture would be more helpful however, there are so many variables that knowing what breeds he most resembles won't really help you in the long run.
- mixed breeds are usually not just two breeds but several breeds .... gonna be hard to tell just give him lots of love a strict training and he will behave the way you want.... no dog is to stubborn!
- When we got our puppy from the SPCA... they guessed at the mixed breed of 2 different ones... but when we took it to the vet he felt a little different.. over the past 6 months... we've concluded that they both were right... the vet added one other breed... you're vet may be able to help you as well.... but it will come clearer as he ages just a bit....
- please post a pic. that will give us all a better idea, i will edit and tell ya when i can see the pics, it could be anything but he shouds super cute, yeah definetly lab and probably shep maybe a little golden too? i will check back
