At what age can Chihuahua puppies be fixed?
I have a eight week old Chihuahua puppy and want him fixed....how old does he have to be. I know he has his rabies at four months. which he is getting and he has his other shots but hes only like a pound and a half so im worried hes too small! no nothing is broken. i think that one person is going by the saying "if it aint broke dont fix it"

- You should contact your vet. Most dogs can be "Fixed" at 12 weeks. It's a myth that a female has to have a litter before she can be spayed.
- The norm is 6 months though shelters that adopt out puppies will spay/neuter earlier. There is question about not neutering until the dog has matured, speak to your vet about what he believes to be best but the majority of dog owners spay or neuter at 6 months.
- I am a long time chihuahua owner and breeder. The earliest I have had one fixed is 4 1/2 months. Some vets will now do it at 2 months but I won't do that. Congrats on your new pup!
