where can you find chihuahua puppies?

my moms birthdays coming up in a few months and id like to get her a new chihuaha puppy to get a pure long hair chihuahua puppy do you have to go through a breeder? and about how much would they cost? oh and how old do they have to be before you can adopt them? my mom already has one chihuahua and has for about 5 years. shes been saying she wants another one lately.

3. Well-bred dogs come from reputable breeders. Any good breeder is a member of their breed's parent club. Chihuahua Club of America has breeder referral. You can also go through their breed rescue, but puppies are rare to find. Don't buy a cheap puppy from the newspaper or online. The parents weren't health tested for common genetic diseases and they often grow up to have lots of problems. Well-bred dogs cost about a thousand dollars, but it is an investment in their health and future. You can buy a puppy for $300 but it'll cost you at the vet about a year down the road.
4. Taco Bell! Seriously, get from a breeder, and make sure the person you know is able to handle it. They are MEAN dogs and territorial.
5. You can find lots of long haired Chihuahua breeders at http://www.akc.org The breeders there can tell you their prices. Just be absolutely certain that your mother wants this little burden before you buy it. Puppies are almost as much work as new babies and they are very expensive to raise, both in money and time. Generally, it is better to ask the person than to surprise someone with a puppy that may not truly be wanted or appreciated. Also, there is a lot of stuff to buy and do, in preparation for a puppy. Then, if the puppy is wanted, let the new owner pick out her own puppy.
