  1. are u a breeder? if u are, then u should be familiar with that subject coz that whats breading reall all about. dont u have like mentor or something? how old is ur female, is she over 2 years, coz she should be? i respect dog breeders who r doing this out of hoby and to improove the breed, but no real breeder has yet came hear to ask a question from a bunch of people on yahoo answers since real breeders have vets and mentors to consult to.
  2. 63 days. You will need to start taking her temperature the week she is due. Twice a day. When her temp drops below 99, and stays there, she is ready. You need to get her to a vet now for a check up. You also need to have your vet on standby, as a lot can go wrong. I hope you will get your dogs fixed after this. It does not sound like you have done your homework.
  3. Only positive answers??? .........,...... ...!!!!........
  4. Did your male get a tie with your female? If not, it's not likely you will have puppies. At about day 55 from the first "tie" you need to start taking her temp in the morning and night, once it falls below 99 you can expect puppies within 24 hrs. I am hoping your dogs are health tested and your bitch is at least over 2 yrs old, but I am guessing from the sounds of this question, they are not. Good luck and it's a good idea to spay and neuter your pets!!
  5. Dogs are pregnant for 9 weeks. So, counting from her first breeding, she would be due Jan. 17th. However, puppies can be born a few days earlier or a few days later than the 63 days. (9weeks) Since she may not have gotten pregnant the first mating, you have to also count through until Jan. 23rd. So, this is your range to watch for... Jan. 17th thru Jan. 23rd. Which could actually be anytime from Jan 15th (few days early) to Jan. 25 (few days late) Make sense?
  6. If your dog is pregnant, she needs to be seen by a vet immediately. The vet can answer all the questions you have. If you lack even the most basic knowledge about conception and gestation, you need to get your dog spayed.
  7. You need to remember the first successful mating and hopefully you allowed two matings only? However do not worry if the male mounted her more times than that. What you must do is count 63 days from the first mating and would suggest that you have your bitch scanned as soon as possible, scan will give you a better idea of the time puppies are due? Most breeders use between the 9th and 13th day but it can be ay time during the season. I had a bitch standing from day 1 till day 28. It was really hard work. Explain to your Vet as they should be on standby when the Pups are due, this does remove a lot of worry for yourself too? Scanning a bitch around the middle of a season is good for you as well as it does give you reassurance. Hope all goes well Jane. Good luck and I really hope all goes well Jane
  8. You can't stipulate "only positive answers"... this is a forum, you're going to get the opinions of those who are choosing to answer. There are hundreds of thousands of dogs euthanized in the US annually. Each one was unwanted, these euthanizations are not an accident. If we don't have enough homes for those, why would you think creating more would be a good idea? Large dogs are harder to adopt, and many times more likely to be surrendered or abandoned.
  9. Ok the first thing is to keep her in side anyways with the cold. ok if she came in heat on Nov 15 and he has been mounting her, and she has been letting him, and he stopped on the 21st then you want to count 63-65 days from the last day of breeding. When she is pregnant her body will start changing like either eating more or less, she will look bigger in the rib area. You should start feeding her puppy food with a mixture of rice, cottage cheese, chicken liver, hard boiled eggs, baby carrots, celery, and you want to mix that with her dry food. She may eat more now or less now but it just depends on her body adjusting to this new look. She will become more attached. If you know that she is healthy for breeding and you know what you are doing then I see no reason why you can not do this. I have been breeding Goldens for the last 12yrs and I have had all sucessful litters. I started breeding my golden at the age of 1 1/2yrs and I have never had any problems with any of my litters. If you need more information on this I am here to give you what I know about it. Oh the other thing. if you want to find out how many pups she is carrying, then you can have her checked when she is 35-40days in her pregnancy. Also make sure that she is current on her shots as well because you won't be able to give her anything til after she has the pups. I want to wish you good luck with them and I am here if you have any other questions about it.
  10. they should be born in a month right after they do their thing with the male. I know this because my mixed breed had puppies
