Cross Breeds

BREEDING I have heard it is nota good idea to cross breed dogs because it it can cause health problems for th

animal down the track. I was wondering if the same can be said for humans. I am not racist I have 6 different nationalities in me but I was just wondering. What do others think?

  1. I am not sure that I understand the question. If I do then no I don't equate the two.
  2. Actually NICKNAME, let me give you a lesson, cross breeding was never a problem, over breeding the Same breed was a problem In breeding get it. Mutts,Pound puppies have been and probably always will be the most well rounded dogs there are.If you would like to compare humans, I can't equate it , but I should say the same, we all have many blends, I am sure...And If we did not, there would be many problems w/ the DNA...chromosomal abnormality's, and so on...
  3. In breeding is what causes problems...in all mammals...
  4. I have a mixed lab puppy. Last weekI I was told a Lab has a short life span of 12 years. Since she's a mix she'll live longer. Pure breed animals have more health problems and a shorter life span than mixes so whoever told you not to crossbreed dogs was incorrect. Just like people, a dog is a dog love ya, juju.
  5. Seriously....it's a good question. Isn't that why God wanted a pure line for his chosen people? I have to say I agree with the poster of "over-breeding" What are we going to do with all these artificial insiminated babies who have no clue who their parents are? Heck...before now we just took the word of the mother...who's to say it was right? I majored in womens studies and good men came home a year later and had their child days later.....LOL He got the credit....but he wasn't the sperm. How many of us really KNOW where we came from?
  6. Resi has it right. I found that a crossbreed is a hardier dog. Less prone to diseases. Inbreeding is the problem. Hi, Resi.
  7. I don't think "nationalities" or "races" makes a difference but so far they know of a few illnesses that certain nationalities are prone to.
  8. there's a world of difference here human medicine is much better than vet care. The vet and owners must guess how the dog feels. A human can say what their symptoms are and get hepl at the earliest moment
  9. There is damage from in-breeding, not cross-breeding. There are too many unwanted animals in the world now, so I would ask you not to breed them. I've done animal rescue all of my adult life. People don't realize that when they get a puppy or kitten, it is a 10-20 year commitment.
  10. The more unrelated genes in all species gives hybrid vigour and is beneficial. It is close regular inbreeding of the same genes that causes problems. In improving livestock it is not uncommon to use inbreeding to fix a good trait ..but too close too often reduces fertility and produces inferior stock. So with your mix of nationalities you should live long and prosper.
